Any issues with copying a Starcraft II (or other Blizzard) install?

To be clear, I'm not trying to do anything illegal, I own the game, but I've got a crazy 4GB+ "patch" it's trying to download over a connection I shouldn't abuse like that. I'd like to download it at home on a home PC, then copy it to my PC I'll actually play it on.

The Battlenet client has a "scan for games" button in the settings...can I just download it on my good home connection, copy the install folder to my notebook, click that button, and have it finish the setup?

I read something that doing that leaves you unable to completely UNINSTALL it, like it doesn't show up in your installed programs list if you copy it like that?

For that matter, anyone know for Star Wars-The Old Republic? I might *cough* play games in locations I'd rather not download multiple GB installs through LOL

Nope, all blizz (e.g, current bnet ones) can be done via copy and paste between computers and when you go to start it, it will then install the launcher if necessary and the launcher will then verify file status and update as required.

Would love if everyone would go to this system and avoid messing with registry stuff to make storage and moving between machines easy.

That's awesome... okay, so you can still "uninstall" it like through "Programs and Features" too, even after you've copied it and let it set itself up?

I'll feel a lot better using my own Internet connection for these gigantic patches than someone else's LOL

To be honest i've never tried. I'll look at my uninstall list when I get home, but everything is contained in the game folder so any uninstall may just delete that. Only holdout may be where the launcher is stored.

I've copied StarCraftII, Hots and HS from one pc to another. No issues at all playing. They don't however show up in the "uninstall list" in control panel.

Just checked, the only thing that forms an item in the uninstall list is the bnet launcher itself. So as I said, feel free to drag and drop all the actual game folders as you desire.
