Any Iowa City ATOT members?

Iowa City recently made national news when a man murdered his family and then committed suicide:

Anyway, members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Westboro, AR will be picketing the funeral. These are the same religious zealot idiots that picket soldiers' funerals. It'll be at Saint Mary's church on Jefferson St., downtown tomorrow morning. Myself and a group of others will be there at 9AM to try to distract the Westboro crowd. I'll be wearing a blue hoodie and I'll have several cameras around my neck. We shouldn't be hard to spot.


Also, if you plan to act with us, I ask you to do it reverently and respectfully. This family is a great asset to the community and I don't want my actions to further upset them.

FWIW, Westboro Baptist is in Topeka, Kansas. Phelps & Company belie everything in the New Testament, everything Christ taught. Best wishes to you for the 'morrow, and keep it clean and peaceful. Fend them away from the service, but try to do it with the love and dignity they try to deny everyone else.

Thanks for the correction, Joe. don't get me wrong, I was raised at a First Baptist church in Tennessee. Their beliefs against homosexuality, pornography, and other endeavors are understandable, though the extremes that they take it to are unacceptable.

Former IA governor Vilsack passed a bill requiring the group to stay 500ft from any services, so hopefully they won't cause too much of a raucus.

IC has one of the highest homosexual populations per capita in the nation and is a very liberal town.

Tomorrow sounds like a great day for a full on gay pride parade that just does hotlaps the entire day around that block that they are protesting on. Maybe the Westboro trolls will spontaneously combust in anger and blasphemy.

No, they're very selective about which parts of the Bible they follow. Matthew 7:1 comes to mind.
