Any insights on the Canon 28-80mm USM V lens ?

Guys,

I had a thread earlier on what lens to buy for a good price. I stumbled upon a good 28-80mm USM EF lens for a really good price.

I have a stock 18-55 EF-S lens, and i considered an upgrade. What do you guys think of this specific lens ? It looks like it is the last of the manufactured series as it is a V.

I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks !

If I remember right its an old film lens
Haven't seen one in some time and never tried one on a DSLR

Depending on the price it may be worth trying

Not sure how much you want to spend but you can find the 18-55mm IS lens for around 100 and a 28-135mm IS for around 200
Both of which would be better than the regular 18-55mm

The 18-55 IS is a great kit lens but is kinda short

If you want something a little longer I don't think you can go wrong with a 28-135 IS

I've a 28-80 USM mk1. Its a decent little lens, pain for keeping the lens cap on.

The mkII and on were poorer optically I believe.
