Any info on the 8800 refresh, and sound on R600?

Hi,

I've been reading up on some of the limited info on the AMD R600 gpu's that should be coming out soon, and one of the more interesting points I found was that they would have HDMI outputs with 5.1 sound. Is there any more info on the sound component of these next generation cards? Do you think that next-gen cards will integrate sound, making sound cards unnecessary? Of course, some say that motherboard-integrated sound has already replaced the necessity for sound cards, but many, including me, are not satisfied with the quality of on-board sound. It may be the case that sound integrated on the GPU's will be below-par, as well.

I've got one more question, too. Does anyone know what Nvidia will respond to the R600 with? Will they release a refresh of the 8800's, or will the 8900's come out first? Will the refreshed 8800's include the beefed-up video decoding that is now featured on the 8600 line of mid-range cards? (I think it's called PureVideoHD, or VP2; not sure).

I don't know if all of these questions are answerable yet, but feel free to speculate. (Just remember to let us know if you do so we don't spread misinformation :))

Wow, that makes sense. I don't know why I thought otherwise... (oops)
