Any inexpensive recommended AGP8x MOBO for OC E4300?

To all OC gurus,

I just got the E4300+ECS P4M800PRO mobo combo at Frys and would like to OC the E4300.

Based on what I read, the ECS mobo is not the best for OC out there. But my budget is limited and can't afford the ASUS P5B nor Gigabyte P965 one.

So, would appreciate any recommendation on an inexpensive-moderate mobo (w/ AGP8x) and advice/instruction to best OC the E4300? Also, should I use the PIN MOD as mentioned somewhere on this forum too?

Thanks.

You should be able to run your E4300 @ 2.4 Ghz (a 600 Mhz overclock) with that ECS board, by doing the pin mod. <<read that thread carefully, someone in it has done the mod, and knows which link is the best. And if 2.4 Ghz isn't enough for you, people are reporting getting their E4300's up to ~2.8 Ghz with this ASRock board, which has an AGP slot.

edit: Oh, and welcome to Anandtech.

Yeah, get the 4coreDual VSTA. I have my e4400 at 295 fsb w/o even trying any tricks. The e4400 temps are around 33C @ idle with the stock cooler. Absolutely amazing!

Thanks everybody.
Looks like the Asrock 4coreDual VSTA is a winner and would not require to do the PIN MOD.

Stumps,
So it is possible to change the VCore to 1.4V from the Asrock 4coreDual VSTA BIOS?

no, the 4coredual has no Voltage controls...I had to do the pin mod on my CPU to get 1.4v...it's dead easy to do all you need is conductive ink and a steady hand(or lots of masking tape).

Using Stock Vcore the 4coredual usually can reach 300FSB which on a E4300 will give 2.7ghz, on a E4400 gives 3ghz.

okey dokey...

So, just to make sure before I mess up the whole damn thing.
Is it as simple as connecting two dots (BSEL1 to VSS) on the CPU using the RS pencil?
Some says that some isolation is required but others say just connect those two dots?
Could anyone send me a good link to confirm the how-to instruction?

don't use a pencil...get some conductive ink and do the job properly.
