I installed the parts of the via 4in1's I needed. Somehow I think I installed too many drivers. Humm. I have an epox 87k7a. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here goes.

You can install everything but the AGP driver in the 4-in-1 package. You need the AMD 761 AGP driver for the northbridge.

well, the conflicts (everything on irq11) seems like the win2k acpi thing (unless you are having actual problems i wouldn't worry about that). as for the ide controllers, windows still thinks it should look for drivers, yet it realizes that it has drivers for them (does that make sense, because i confused myself?). do you by any chance have the 8k7a+ version (the raid version)? that would explain why it found a second set of ide controllers (maybe, unless it would be looking for a scsi device?). try uninstalling all the ide drivers and see what windows finds...then you can either run the service pack setup and choose only the busmaster drivers...or you can "update drivers" from the hardware device manager. you would have to unzip the service pack to a folder, and when you update the drivers choose to "specify a location". the location would be in that folder you created-->idewin2k-->viaide.inf

I got rid of the IDE tools that came with my mobo CD. I coudlnt uninstall the VIA IDE controller without causing a crash. Now I have no yellow things, and my sisoft score went up 700 points to 24916. W00t.

well, my sandra hard drive scora easily vaires more than 700 points depending on which way my fart blows in the wind...meaning no changes. however, a score just shy of 25000 means things are working right (what hard drive do you have?)

Yah SiSoft Sandra is kind of bunk, scroes within 1,500 are all the same ;)

40 gig Deskstar 60GXP. I might hook it up to a promise controller, see how much it hurts me.
