I was wondering if anyone knew if they laptop can support RAM that is faster then pc2700. For instance pc3200 etc? I believe it is based on the 915PM Chipset if that is of help.
Toshiba guy was like, "I have no idea". So we can't guarentee it will work... Thanks....
BTW this is a canadian Model.

That laptop is a Sonoma-based Centrino notebook. It depends which chipset your notebook has. If it indeed does have the 915PM or 915GM chipset, that machine will support dual channel DDR2 400MHz & 533MHz. If it has the 915GMS, you're limited to single-channel DDR2 400MHz.

Not really. There is difference, but not much.

Memory speed depends more on CPU clock than memory clock.

Big performace difference between the ddr333 and ddr2 400 or 533?

Right now, no.

DDR2 is at a disadvantage because though it runs at higher clock speeds, it has higher latencies as well. DDR1 runs at lower clock speeds, but at lower latenchies. Right now the performance benefit from going to single channel DDR1 to single channel DDR2 is negligible. Going from SC DDR1 to DC DDR2 400, meh. Going from SC DDR1 to DC DDR2 533 MIGHT get you 10% more performance, but doubtful.

I don't believe this laptop uses DDR2 memory.
Here is a link to kingston's memory used in the laptop.

I can't see why DDR 400 wouldn't work, although I haven't found a way to increase the FSB or timings to make use of it if you did purchase the faster memory.

I have the next model down. This is what I get for info using PC Wizard 2005.
