Any idea why a laptop cd-rom drive would not read a CD but it will read a DVD?

Is it due to the laser? I have this laptop which the dvd-rom drive reads CDs but not DVDs. Any ideas?

If it's a CD-R/RW did you create it with "packet writing" software that let you drag and drop files onto the disc? If so, you might need to install reader software.

No, this is a Windows installation CD. But it's ok, it was a known issue with my client so disregard thank you.
