Any idea when intel hd 4000 integrated graphics will be out

My co worker (female) is looking at buying a laptop. Her main use is just surfing the internet, looking at pictures, watching movies etc. Ive never seen her play games. Currently (we're not in america) most laptops I see have a dedicated graphics card. I highly doubt she would ever ever need one. The laptop I use doesnt have one (i5 sandybridge) and even the crap games I play run just fine. Her main interests would be la light notebook with a good screen (however im sure she will steer away from ips once she sees the price) Of course long battery life is always nice. So my question really is should she just wait for the i5 ivy bridge hd4400 to come out and should I expect it to be fairly more expensive then whats out currently?

HD 4000 = ivy bridge only CPUs, so just wait for a ivy bridge refresh of the laptop line that you're looking at

I would say just go for the right priced laptop when you need it, since she doesn't need any of those features

SAndy Bridge already offers pretty decent battery life

Trinity will be very good for a laptop.

I think your friend should get an i3 ivy bridge lapgop

Quad cores mobile IBs are out and shipping and didn't really have any impact on system prices. I would expect the same from the dual core IBs.

My thoughts on going AMD. Don't. Especially since you're not needing gaming graphics. An IB cpu is going to destroy the AMD units at almost everything.

Waste of money, to be honest. The A10 will be in $600 range laptops, and the A8 in $500 range laptops. The A8 has a cut-down IGP; the IGP in the A10 is 20% faster than the one in the A8 meaning pretty much all of AMD's IGP advantage goes away at that price range. The A10, meanwhile, is priced too high. At the $600 range you'll start to see Ivy Core i5 laptops, which have a massively faster CPU and Core i3+dGPU (HD 7670M) laptops, which will have faster CPU and GPU performance.

To recap: at the $500 range AMD will have lost almost all their IGP advantage while having a big CPU deficit, and at the $600 range you either have a massive CPU performance gap or a notable CPU + GPU gap.

Any idea on release dates for Samsung Series 9 IB and HP Envy 14 Spectre IB?

Both Samsung Series 9 and HP Envy 14 Spectre are using 17W dual core CPUs. All of the dual core mobile Ivy Bridge chips are being released near Computex. According to rumors its June 6th. They'll probably announce the products then.
