Any HeadHunters Scouting AT Members?

i'd say there's more brain power here at AT ... especially over at highly technical forum...
than anywhere else i've been to.

especially when it comes to overclocking, tech support or networking... we have members that excel at the highest level.

i'm just wondering if there are any scouts browsing through anandtech, and if any member was offered a job due to this.

any stories?

if i were a headhunter... i'd definately spend some time here at AT searching for some talent.

I'm not currently a headhunter but have been. Taking a break for school. I wouldn't search AT because you don't get a comprehensive list of skills, or a feel for the actual amount of work experience (which many companies require, no matter how good you are). Plus, just being an active member of AT indicates withdrawn relational skills. 😉

Not sure how accurate that assumption is, many of the REALLY active members here do helpdesk support - ie we're stuck behind a PC with internet access doing the same thing, 25x a day.

AT is what keeps us sane.

I'm currently having my first delightful experience with being courted but the headhunter got my name via a good friend of mine whom he placed and not from here 🙂

No headhunter would come here unless they were looking for someone with a high ability to NEF.

BTW, if there ARE any headhunters out there feel free to take mine.

Tech here with 28 months experience.

$15 an hour & I'm yours.

Headhunters annoy me at least once a week. At least they aren't quite as bad as long distance companies.

Not helpdesk, but IT-support here. And I agree with you! AT is what keeps me sane during the day. If I have to stare at computer-monitor for 8 hours a day (Only including worktime), I might as well do something that I enjoy. And I enjoy ATOT 🙂.

Man, I wish I had that problem 😀

Still searching for another job......

I dont think so. It does not prove you have withdrawn relational skills, however nor does it prove you posess normal relation skills either.

Well, if there is, I'm looking for a mechanical engineering position in the Cleveland OH and surrounding areas. 🙂

Cougar,

If I were actually looking for a job, the phone would never ring. That's how life works.

so russ... share with us why you're so valuable or marketable?
for someone who's looking for a job/opportunity...
how can we build ourselves to be in your shoes?

🙂

i don't mean that sarcastically, i feel like there are enough of us looking for a job currently and this info would help us much.

thanx

I'm not. I'm just easy to find.

if it is true that headhunters are not taking an active look into AT members...
then, dont' you think they should?

besides all the junk neffer's,
i feel that there are plenty hardworking people with exceptional know-hows.

no? am i alone here?

im not sure you understand what most headhunters do, they recruit for management and executive positions, ie if Accenture is looking for a new Corporate VP outside the company they would go to a headhunter company and ask them to look for them. Or if Ford was looking to hire the Head of Manufacturing. Tier 2 tech support (or anything like it) will usually not be solict the attention of a headhunter and they defintly wont be going through AT Forums too find people.

i understand that headhunters are used for high positioned job openings.
however, that doesn't mean that they are not used for low-mid level.
i've met a few headhunters that cover low-mid level jobs as well.

Heh, ain't that the truth. Right after I started my last job I was offered a position as a Computer Tech at a company 15 mins. from my house. If I had known that I was going to get the axe I would have jumped on the deal, but I tried to play it safe and got screwed in the process. I actually turned down a couple of interviews and stopped scouring the job market completely just because I thought I had a good job on my hands. Well, live and learn I guess.
