Uh, random tip: be careful with soft flesh around a guard that small. I believe 1/8" would be the common 'number 1,' aka the shortest guard in most sets. The numbers usually correlate to eighths of an inch, so 4 = 1/2", 7 = 7/8", et al.

Long story short; one time I was using the number 1 and I clippered my ballsack, and I tell you this: I did not enjoy it at all.

Yeah, but this thread is about armpits. And it should be intuitive that you should be extra careful when loose folds of skin and blades of any sort are involved.

Don't even think about trying to shave your balls without a guard on unless you have a surgeon's hands or a masochist's mind.

Armpits? Mostly I'm not very hairy, except my pits. Trimming them isn't enough because their coverage is too much. Thought of shaving half or something, biggest worry is how itchy it might be!

I do because I sweat so much. Getting rid of the hair reduces the smell. It itches like hell, though, especially in combination with the aluminum chloride anti-perspiration I use.

Trim. My wife would like me to shave it (and other places), but I have two objections:

1) Comfort. I find it mind-bogglingly stupid of anyone to rate looks over comfort (and no, I don't make any demands/suggestions of/for her in the looks department).

2) There's a reason why hair grows there. In the case of armpits, it stops the sweat dripping down your sides and potentially irritating the skin. I suspect that it reduces damage done through constant skin-on-skin friction as well.

Shaving its tedious, once you start you can't stop. It'll tend to get infected and whatnot. Not really a good idea. Just trim it short my opinion. You're a guy its a perk!

Trimming is too much work. My hair there is too thin for a trimmer.

About once every two months I use a razor and take it off. It helps keep the stink out.

Man with hairy pits? Eewwww.

maybe it's just the european in me......wife likes it, and that's the way I like it....that's all that really matters.

Not changing it because of our stupid society.

I thought only new jersey guido types shaved their shit.....weird

I have not shaved my armpits, cause I don't really have much hair in there. Pretty much overall I have very little body, except in my nose. It is ridiculous how fast my nose hair grows. I have used quite a few different nose hair trimmers, but I can't find a really good one that gets all of it. I would say I shave/pluck my nose hairs every 5 days or so.

Shaved my arm pits (Actually most of my body hair) back in High School for final swim competitions. My girlfriend at the time liked it. The stubble sucked after a couple of days but eventually it grew back just fine. Never really thought about doing it on a regular basis.

I shaved my pits once when I was younger and will never do it again. They were constantly wet with sweat, which is a terribly uncomfortable feeling. And I'm not even one who sweats much.

Nope, never... I'm pretty sure you'd get your ass kicked for doing something like that where I'm from. Unless you were drunk and did it on a dare.. Then that's might pass but it'd still get you laughed at - forever...

I've never even considered this... but I hear that you're able to retain your Man Card only as long as you save the trimmings in a jar or a pillow case.
