Yep, I was 20 and she was around the same age. She was cute but at the time she was dating my friend.

About 3 or 4 months in her friend moved in as well. Now the second girl was smokin hot. We flirted but nothing came of it since she usually stayed overnight at her boyfriends place.

I found women roommates to be cleaner.

Never had a single roommate that wasn't a GF, but I have lived with 2 and 3 other females. It wasn't bad. I wasn't interested in them, so we were just friends. It worked out pretty well too, because we didn't have the same groups of friends, so inviting people over for stuff was always great. Met a lot of new people like that.
 
Yes. I've shared a house several times with one female roommate.

My only words of advice: Find one that isn't batshit crazy.
 
I lived with two women once.

But, the landlord wouldn't allow it,.. so I pretended I was gay. And, I would invite them to come and knock on our door. We've been waiting for you. Where the kisses are hers and hers and his, Three's company too.

Come and dance on on our floor. Take a step that is new. We've a loveable space that needs your face, Three's company too.

You'll see that life is a frolic and laughter is calling for you. Down at our rendez-vous,
Three's company, too.

Oh, and Larry, our upstairs neighbor, was a rapist.

I've lived with two different female roommates.

One: back about 9 years ago. Young, both of us single. I hit on her a while back and she had none of it. We remained platonic friends and I ended up needing to find a place to live, so we moved into a 2 bedroom place. Worked out great - she stayed at her BF's 1/2 the time, so it was like having my own joint. The other 1/2 when they stayed over was great - I was normally out at the bar, working, running around. We all got along great so there were never any issues - both had our own bathrooms. I cooked all the time and she didn't, so we didn't fight over the kitchen. I moved out when I bought a house. Great experience, she was super cool/low key. Bills split down the middle.

Two: after having bought said house, I dated a girl for a bit. Never progressed very far, and remained friends. She was graduating with her doctorate in physical therapy and had a residency about 10 minutes from me, so let her move into a spare bedroom. (She had her own bathroom) She studied quite a bit for her boards which was good. We did fight over the TV every once in a while, but took turns depending on the night. What slowly started irking me was her leaving trash on the couch, kitchen counter, dirty dishes, without putting it away. Seriously? Never took out the trash or recycling, but I never did ask her to. (Maybe my fault on that, but leaving trash out on the couch seems like common sense) She paid a fixed amount each month regardless of water/heat/electricity, which was fine with me - it helped with the mortgage anyway.

We were both very "We like shit our way" type people, which was part of the reason we didn't get any further dating. It got to a point where I got pretty sick of her and asked her to move out. She left a few months later and that was that.

My learnings - no different than living with a guy roommate. My old guy roomie - not like we walked around in our underwear in front of each other, so it really wasn't that different. It really just depends upon the person living with you and your compatibility. Guy vs girl really didn't make much of a difference. Don't be afraid to speak up if things piss you off, and don't lock yourself (or them) into a long ass term contract to keep it up. Make sure you ask all the questions you want upfront so you know what to expect. (Do you mind friends/gf/bf coming over, are you messy, what's your job situation, party animal, stay out late, etc)
 
I could see it working from a clinical point of view in some rare exception. But the two times I tried it, it didn't. Too many conflicting issues both times.
 
I think my roommate and I exchange 10 words a week total. She's clean, no big messes. She's rarely home and we are never really in the same room together.

But I'm a hermit so most people would never see me if I was their roommate.
 
I'm living with one right now, it's not horrible but I grew up with six older sisters so I'm used to this:

I will say that it was a little weird at first when we were getting to know each other, but after the first month we found our comfort zones and it was cool from then on. Is she attractive? She's not my type, but she dates plenty of respectable men so she's not "ugly". I will say that if she and I were attracted to each other it would be hard to keep things civil.

If you find yourself at all attracted to a girl while looking at the place I would say don't do it. Booze can be a powerful catalyst for rash decisions that you both will regret later. Think of it like this:

-You met a girl and after one date decided to get and apartment together.
-You realize a month later that you haaaaaate each other, and soon break up.
-Now you're stuck in a lease together.

Does that sound fun? If not, then be careful about moving in with a girl you may become attracted to; not that you're guaranteed to know that up front, but if right off that bat you look at her and think "She's kinda cute" then you're not ready for a female roommate.

Now, if you two seem like you'd be "whatever' about each other -- and she isn't a slob/teh crazies -- then a girl roommate is no better or worse than a male roommate. You miss out on having some bro-rrific fun, but you can go out and play wingman for each other.

Also (SPOILER ALERT!!!) girls do not walk around in their underwear in their apartment. While at home, a girl will wear:

1. A baggy t-shirt that they've had since high school
2. Their hair in a bun, or they simply let it go to hell.
3. Stained sweat pants that makes their ass look as appealing as a plate of soggy waffles.
4. Socks that look like they were fashioned from the cloth off an old Muppet toy.

A time will come when she will off you sex for rent money. However the unwritten part of that agreement is that one fuck exempts her from all future expenses.

So it's kinda like a fuck that keeps on fucking you.

Living with any woman that is not your wife or SO is a bad idea in my experience.

Source -> I lived with 5 women my junior year of college. It was a nightmare. 5 women and 1 bathroom = utter filth. Never in my life have I seen so much hair in the bathroom. Then there was the constant bitching about boyfriends, how so and so didn't like one of them, etc. It really was a headache. I tried as hard as possible to avoid my house mates while home hat year, but they always found some way to bring me into their drama.
 
I lived with a woman for several years. We're both straight, never hooked up. In fact, we became great friends.

It all depends on the people.
 
Have done this before and it obviously depends on the person:

1. Misconception: hot, well put together girls are automatically clean. BIG false, in fact, it seems the more attractive they are the grosser shared bathrooms will be

2. If you're a dude that just can't be mature, move on. One was always in her underwear. If I were signle or didn't have an active personal life this could have been frustrating. Eventually it turned into "grow up [me], bras are just like bathing suits - don't be a weirdo about it.."

3. Boyfriends will be around. Even unattractive women have their tinder/craigslist hookup and they WILL drink the expensive liquor you wrote your name on..

4. My favorite roommate was a girl because we warped into a bro/sister relationship not a weirdly asexual or weirdly sexually tense one

5. They will probably not introduce you to their friend on the terms you want to - meaning, I made many girls who opened on friends terms vs. gettign set up. Of course I could have used that to my advantage, i take it that since your ATOT you won't (like me)

6. Gay roommates are fantastic. Just throwing that out there. I likved with 3 gay guys at once and had the most active dating life because of their influence. how to dress, how to speak to women, "oh my god, you're so hip because you live with the gays!" I don't know what it was, but women were all over me
