Any guilty feelings on liking an unpopular car?

94? Ford Escort with a manual transmission. The suspension is very loose so you can go 40mph over a speed bump without breaking anything. The whole car feels incredibly cheap so there's no guilt when treating it like a piece of shit. Going full speed over speed bump, loading the car up with 5 people then taking really hard corners, hammering the gas while making left turns so the tires squeel and the car jerks like a person with parkinsons. We even took it off road a few times. Because it's not built for performance or even good gas mileage, it sits very high and doesn't bottom out. The car is also less prone to getting stuck in snow.

Small shitty cars are almost the most fun because driving the speed limit feels very fast and the sound of engine makes it feel like the world is coming to an end while doing it. Most boring feel ever was a Ford F150 because it always feels like I'm driving too slow and the engine never revs higher than 3000 so it sounds like an old person is driving even when accelerating up to 60mph from a stop.

I like the looks of the 2nd gen Ford Probe.

Me too! The Probe shared underpinnings with Mazda vehicles (MX-6 and 626). It looks almost like an RX7 except for the rear end.

Here's a stock mid-range

Obligatory: "The Pontiac Aztek wasn't that bad."

Yes it was.

I drive a car with a big smiley face on the front. It is fun as hell to drive though.

Big horsepower can make up for a lot of sins.

LOL! My old Mustang GT felt like that even when fairly new.

I like nearly all VWs of nearly and age.. I guess that means I like quite a few cars that are incredibly unpopular.

As always, i couldn't care less what other people think

Nothing wrong with the Probe GT... it was a good looking car, light, great handling and with the 2.5L DOHC V6 engine with 5spd transmission a pretty darn fun little car.

I love my car even though according to Nissan only 2% of Altimas are for the V6. But I thought it was totally worth it (supposedly the Altima is the cheapest family sedan to go from the 4-banger to the V6). 7 years and 130,000+ miles and no problems, so I can't complain.

Indians are hardwired to vehemently defend to the death anything Honda/Toyota makes no matter how shitty/overpriced/ugly/useless it is. So you have an excuse.

I've noticed that too. People from Pakistan are the same way. Although the younger Indian crowd here in the bay area being rich from working at high tech companies tend to buy M3's and the like.

Once you get older you buy a BMW or a Lexus for the status of it. Always the smallest engine with the least amount of options possible.

Spoiled kids will get M3s or 335i's and drive them like they're michael shumacher.

I am not Indian. And I can honestly see why a lot of people are turned off by he new design of Acura's. I'm just not one of them and I really could not care less what people think of them. To each his own.

I hardly consider that defending it to the death. 😀

It's not just the front. The back of the later TL is atrocious too IMO. That said, looks are subjective. I however do know that the resale value of the older TL actually went up after the advent of the newer design. Pretty rare that happens.

We used to have a PT Cruiser which while popular [with girls] seem to be universally hated by "car guys." I wasn't big on it at first, we got it because the wife loved the way they looked. It was dog slow and had typical Chrysler reliability, but it really grew on me. Lots of usable space, comfortable seating positions, tons of leg room for rear passengers. Ultimately sold it because I wanted something more reliable for the wife to drive, but I do miss it sometimes.

I don't think I've ever seen a 4 cyl Altima. Around here they are all V6 and they drive like they have the fastest car ever made.

Then again I don't think I've ever seen a single PT Cruiser out of the thousands I see everyday that isn't a "Limited Edition"

I also like the early 90's Honda Accord. Very vanilla, but very purposeful and thought out. The driver's view is awesome.

I still have one, and I agree. Ergonomic and pleasant to look at. Vanilla but somehow not boring like a Camry, nor particularly dated-looking, despite its age.

I hate the name of it.
I hate the fact it was supposed to be the Mustang replacement.

But I love the looks of it. Clean design, holds well to this day.

Also, I like the new Fit's and Fiesta's.

I dare you to name your guilty thoughts.

Why should you care what the popular opinion is? I'd have a miserable life if I cared.

Hell no.. I love my Saturns.

My browny gold colored 2000 station wagon is my favorite, and I am sure a lot of people would hate it. It is a great car.

I'm in love with my Grand Marquis.

It's probably universally disliked for it's boat-like size and driving characteristics but that's what I enjoy about it. Plus I can set the cruise control at the speed limit and people still get out of the way on the highway. 22-29 mpg while cruising to the sound of a V8 Ford breathing through Magnaflows is tough to beat too.

I love the hell out of my 1997 Town Car:

I get it, it's an old man car, it's ancient technology, etc. etc.

But I think it's one of the best looking cars out there, obviously one of the most comfortable, and I get a kick out of driving it around.
