On the ipads, there is not gps on the wifi only models. I was wondering if the androids had a good gps solution on their wifi model in which I would not require a provider.

yes, most android tablets have GPS, even the wifi models. I use the Nexus 7 for GPS in my car.

N7's bluetooth performance leaves something to be desired, though.

But as to the OP's query, yes, navigation works well on Android and it's a great back up for my car's built-in navigation, especially when it's hard to make it understand specific addresses.

So then why doesn;t apple have GPS, or was I given wrong info?

Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Cellular Radio is almost always one chip with tablets and phones. Apple uses a chip that only has the first two with the Ipad.

Some very cheap chinese tablets don't even have bluetooth for they try to keep cost down.

It's more accurate than my car's built-in GPS for Google's data base is constantly updated. But I guess there is even better GPS as Throckmorton suggests.. which I didn't know. But unless you're looking for a hidden treasure or a buried body or something, you will find the address no problem.
