Has anyone had any success with any system optimizers for repairing, fixing, and optimizing PC functions?

I've tried Norton Sytem Works and Iolo's System Mechanic, but don't really like either. Both are too resource demanding. However, I do like the fact that Iolo offers a way to clean and defrag tthe Registry, and RAM. It also uses Kaspersky Anitvirus which is top notch. But with only 512mb RAM, it uses way too much resources on my computer to offset the advantages.

Also, I've heard good and bad about the Advanced System Optimizer that's out there.

What are your thoughts? Do you have a favorite(s) or is it even worth the effort?

the best system optimizer is a clean install and /or a clean environment imho. as amdskip said, i don't bother with those apps.
