The Xterra is a midsize SUV - it's only slightly smaller than the Pathfinder, although it has quite a bit less cargo room. Both of them are truck-based, though, so they have more off-road capability than she needs (and the gas mileage and on-road ride suffer a little because of that).Originally posted by: bolido2000

Oh yeah, in that price range I'd say maybe a Nissan Xterra. I have had one for a few years and never had a problem with it. If you really need even more hauling room buy an inexpensive utility trailer (I got mine for about $450 total) so you can move bigger furniture. Just don't expect great gas mileage, it isn't gonna happen in any SUV I can think of.
The Xterra is pretty small isn't it? She'd be better off with a used Pathfinder.
I think the Xterra and Pathfinder are pretty much the same size,
I think and Xterra or used Pathfinder would be good. Element seems to be pretty roomy too.
