Any good screamo bands?

I'm really, really digging Thrice's and The Beautiful Mistakes new albums.. Any other recommendations? In case you're not sure what screamo is it's kinda a melding between the introspective punk-pop/rock of emo and the intense, blistering guitarwork and screaming typical of hardcore.. I'm not an expert though, I just discovered the genre myself..

"Screamo"? That's probably the best name for a musical genre I've heard yet...:D

And whose responsibility is it exactly to decide what is and is not a genre?

...Between the Buried and me
It dies today
Hopesfall
Love Lost But not Forgotten
Poison the Well
Cool Hand Luke (older stuff, not new CD, "case of emergency" is a great song)

Little harder Stuff:
Lamb of God
The Red Cord
Daughters
Zao
Nile(check out "Unas Slayer of the God" amazing double bass work)
Cannibal Corpse
Dying Fetus
Cryptopsy

Also check out Dead Elizabeth it's a local band here in Fresno, CA, one of my close friends is vocals and the rest of the band is people I've known for quite a while, pretty good for local if you ask me.

Zao is pretty awesome, it's more hardcore than "screamo" but so are most of the other bands on my second list there. =)

Hmm, good question.

Using Disturbed as a reference or yardstick, someone please quantify/define "Screamo Band."

Screamo band generally has more--well screaming, though "screamo" is really only one of many terms such as "hardcore" some of the ones i listed could also qualify for "black metal"(mostly ones on second list). Disturbed doesnt really have any screaming or growling like these, just some random grunting and singing, download.....err i mean buy some of the music I listed and check it out, or hit the Dead Elizabeth link for a good idea and legalness yay. The last song link on the DE mp3.com page is the best one if its the one im thinking of.

Basically its a genre where you either like it, or you hate it.

How much, exactly, have you heard from Disturbed? I could see you possibly saying that about their latest album Believe, but The Sickness didn't have much screaming? C'mon.

Edit: Would Slipknot be a better example of "screamo"?

No not really, listen to some of the music myself and others posted. Screamo music is almost ALL screaming, the lyrics are screamed and growled, check the the mp3.com link for Dead Elizabeth and Listen to the bottom song, or any of the songs for that matter.

From what i've heard (from my emo buddies), "screamo" is more like "screemo." Emphasis on the EMO part of it, but instead of crying out whatever the emo bands have to say, they scream it out.

Don't you dare list Disturbed or Slipknot under screemo, they don't deserve that shyt!

-but this is all what i've heard from those emo people. I would think they would know.

Yes that is correct, Screamo is like hardcore Emo(first list for the most part), then there's hardcore(second list for the most part), once again I urge you to listen to DEAD ELIZABETH

I'm at MP3.com right now listening to their various songs (here) - good guitarist and awesome overall sound, but the screaming sounds absolutely awful. It just isn't for me.
