Any good Sci-Fi or Fantasy animated series to download?

I am looking for something along the lines of Heavy Metal or Clone Wars. I like a cool art style and deep narrative. I don't like Anime unless it's something really innovative or unique.

I don't mind G rated stuff, but prefer more a adult oriented series.

I also don't mind comedies like Metalocalypse or Squidbillies (short series are ok).

Thanks.

Got Netflix?

Have you seen the original Ghost in the Shell? There is a 2-season TV show set in that world (GitS Stand Alone Complex) that's well-written and can be streamed legally. Yes, it's anime but not Dragonball style.

Do I need to watch the movie to understand the show? There's also a sequel, is it worth it? Now that you mention it I don't mind the realistic type of anime, it's the pokemon stuff I'm not fond of.

Yeah I watched it on TV, pretty cool but the stories are so convoluted, maybe it's the English translation. Best theme song ever though.

I think you should make the transition into Japanese Anime, you won't regret it. Ghost in the Shell series and Cowboy Bebop are both really good animes to start with. If you're interested in a series with 100+ eps, check out Legends of the Galactic Heroes.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, Cowboy Bebop and GitS look very cool I will have to get them despite the fact that I wasn't initially looking for any anime 😛

BTW, how do you guys usually watch these? with subtitles or English VO?

I would also appreciate any suggestions for western series, but apparently there aren't many?

I enjoyed Exo-Squad as a kid not sure how it would hold up now. It was nice in that it had an over-arching story and came to a conclusion.

Anime wise, I watched Strain on Youtube and it was good.

I thought it got canceled before it came to a conclusion, but yea exosquad was my favorite nontranslated show as a kid.

You can easily find both dubbed versions of the anime being streamed on numerous websites, but you'll probably have to DL the series with torrent if you want HQ videos.

Planetes was an amazing sci fi series. Its probably one of the most realistic sci fi anime's around. And there is also Evangelion andRahxephon (both are excellent and crazy and emotionally charged giant robot series, with Rahxephon being more cohesive, and Eva more groundbreaking) I like Rahxephon a tad more. and Gundam (although some series are better than others, 08th MS Team and 0080 are my favorites)

No they finished the storyarc. The last eps they setup something for another story but never saw anything from that.
Wiki eps list

Yea, I looked it up after I said that and realized they finished their last arc and ended with a cliff hanger but never started the next arc really; it's been what like 15 years? my memories was a bit shakey of it : )

Not sure if you'd like it, but I am currently re-watching Mai HiME. It's very good once you get into the middle of the series.

Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, almost complete.

War Planets/Shadow Warriors

both CGI, not anime style
