I'm getting bored of FPS's such as Q#, Wolfenstein, MOHAA, Max Payne,.... Are there any good RPG games that aren't all magic or D&D? I'm not really into games with "magic" themes, so if there's anything else worth playing let me know. Thanks!

Exp, both of those were absolutely great back in the day. I played them a ton. I wish there was a recent game around like it.

So do I. Unfortunately it looks like we will continue to get D&D games shoveled down our throats for the foreseeable future, while nobody puts any effort into fresh ideas and original settings. :(

E3 is in a few weeks so hopefully some promising new RPGs will be announced then. I know Interplay has a mystery game that they will be unveiling there. Fallout 3, anyone? :Q

This is the RPG I'm waiting for (besides neverwinter nights, one of those D&D games). An RPG set in the Star Wars universe, done by the makers of Baldur's Gate. That is going to be sweet.

Dungeon Siege. Fun and easy to play. I 'm just like you jumpem, all I ever play are FPS's.

<< Forgot Morrowind people... >>

He said games without that D&D or magic theme, so I'm assuming Morrowind isn't on that list. If an RPG set in a fantasy setting is what he wants, Morrowind would be right up his alley though.

Fallout 1 and 2, are fabulous games... HIGHLY recommended to anyone that likes RPG's.

DungeonSiege is an action game, with a few RPG elements though I wouldnt wholly consider it a true RPG. If you liked Diablo then you'd probably love DungenSiege.

If your interested in SuperHero's/Comic books at all then Freedom Force is a very nice action game, with some RPG elements... though as with Dungeon Siege I don't consider it a 'true' RPG either.

If you want to avoid magic and games based on D&D then Fallout is an absolute must play though... those two are among the best games ever made IMHO.

Just thought of another one...If you've never played it Deus Ex has a bit of RPG to it as you have to develop your character. Plus you still get that FPS action.

Wow, I never really thought about it before but it is truly depressing how few RPGs do not involve magic. So much for originality in game design.

As far as good RPG/FPS hybrids go (ala Deus Ex) System Shock 2 is one of the classics.

anachronox! a humorous sci-fi adventure rpg.

it is a sci-fi rpg that uses the quake2 engine. you explore 3-D as opposed to 2-D final fantasy. battle is basically rpg turn based and nothing special. map loading times are bad at times. so why should you play this game? it looks surprisingly nice for a dated quake2 engine (reviews say this about the game). its very story oriented. i find that the battle is sort of unimportant and the more important parts are the exploration and unravelling of the story. it's the first game that i've played that has a sense of humor. the scripts and characters are funny. a pretty original game. it took me about 30 hours to finish.

This is has both magic and is based on D&D, but it is different than your normal D&D hash:

Planescape: Torment

Very cool RPG. Best RPG I have ever played. Different twist than you normally get, with a very involved story. When I finished it I felt I had just read a very good book and had become attached to all the characters in it.

Bunker, I've also played Deus Ex and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I downloaded the Dungeon siege demo. I didn't think that I would like the fantsay setting, but I played for a while and it's pretty good. I'll probably go get it this weekend.
