Any good option for corporate mail server security besides GroupShield?

That's damn expensive and you have to pay it every year. Any other options that are as good for a little less price? Thanks.

What do you mean by "security"? Virus scanning? Attachment scanning? Ect?

If so, look at Trend Micro and their scan mail line of products.

First guy, thanks for the link. We basically just need attachment filtering.

Second guy, the company I work for is very small and did I ever mention wanting something for free? Guess you just felt like being a bastard and that's okay, I guess.

no, i'm being realistic. Obviously any type of security worth a damn is not cheap, and usually is not a one time purchase. I can only think of a handful of corp. software that we use that isn't on a maintenence contract of some sort. That being said, Watchguard firebox will scan attachments and strip them off for you. Thats relatively cheap, at $4000.

Not sure what your definition of "cheap" is, but I got scan mail, which is the virus scanner, for 50 users for exchange for ~$1600.

It does *some* attachment blocking in that I can enter an attachment type, IE .vbs, .pif, .scr, ect and it will block them. I also have the option of entering an attachment name, IE loveletter, annak, snowwhite, ect and it will block that also.

They also have a more indepth plug in for the virus scanner that offers even more advanced attachment blocking. It was something like $300 additional cost on top of the $1600. I didn't choose it at the time, since the scan mail virus program did most everything that I need.

The scanner updates itself every two hours for new virus definitions, and it's a one time cost. No subscription fees.

We only need 50 users. Groupshield for that many users would be $2500. Insiginificant money to large companies, but, small companies like the one I work for consider that a sizeable investment. Getting that number down to around $1,000 would make it more paletable to the guys who pay the bills. I already found scanmail for under 900 which is even better because it's only 3 numbers instead of 4. ;) Doesn't seem like much of a difference, but, believe me, it is.

Thanks for the other two links guyver. I'll check those out.
