I am looking for a good DVD burner that can overburn DVDs I have some DVDs that just don't fit on a regular DVD, by no more then 20 mb. My NEC 3520A has no overburning support.

I also have an Optorite 405 from long time ago which I have been using to overburn in necessary today when I tried burning it failed several times with different DVDs as it seemed to not be able to spin up to start the burn. It plays CDs and DVDs just fine.
I really don't know if it is broken as I have not even had a chance to reboot, but anyways why wait to replace this old burner.
Has anybody seen a burner fail like this?

Thanks

Also, The 405 also has HD-CD support so I would like the new one to support it as well if possible but definitely not a requirement.

I haven't heard anything about overburning on DVD although it is very common on CD's. I recommend reducing the size of the DVD files to fit into a 4.7GB DVD by recoding or resizing. Nero and DVD Shrink can do this.

It is not a DVD, it is actually a series of smaller files. (TV Series right now) And I just need a little more room to fit it and I don't want to start a new DVD.

Most reviews don't even mention DVD overburning. I didn't even know I could do it. I tried it and it worked.

Compress the data if you only need 20MB. Overburned DVDs can be unstable during playback.

These are videos which are slightly to big and I really don't want to re-encode them. The DVDs that burned successfully have worked fine so far.
