Any good adventure PC games recently?

I don't think I've played a great adventure game since Grim Fandango (my favorite). Full Throttle was great, and the Monkey Island ones were alright.....interesting how all my favs are Lucasarts.

You might like The Longest Journey, but note I had to run it under Win98 I couldn't get it working properly under XP regardless of compatibility settings.

Was it good after a while? I actually did borrow a friend's copy and start it....but....I got bored, really quickly, with it. Maybe I need some wit, or I just didn't care for her character....it was some tiem ago.

....come to think of it, The Dig was also pretty good, but I don't think I ever finished it.

It's old, but the Quest For Glory series is my favorite. Reallly old. 5 came out in 1998, but 1 is my favorite... VGA version came out in 1992. They're so good you can play them in 2005 and still be entertained.

Yes! Take a look at the Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) demo and the Voyage demo. Fahrenheit is styled like Max Payne, but plays out scene by scene where you explore objects and effect the outcome of the scene. It seems very cool and very cinematic. It also seems to go by both names of Fahrenheit and Indigo Prophecy. Voyage is like a traditional adventure game where you solve puzzles and collect items.

The hard drive with all my savegames died after I'd been playing about 8 hours and I haven't gotten around to starting over.

At least in the first part some of the puzzles were (to me) "unfair" because the solutions were so nonsensical -- find a deflated rubber duck and patch it up so you can get an electrified key!?! But the graphics / art were interesting enough for me to spend the time playing the first part with walkthrough near to hand.

From the demo, Indigo Prophecy is looking to be one of the best adventure games I've ever played.

Also, there is "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey" coming supposedly in september. You also should get Myst 4 and Myst 5 will be out soon.

Then you have these 3 games that I know absolutely nothing about: Nibiru, Voyage, and RHEM 2.

Can someone describe to me what defines an "Adventure" game? Preferably not by listing games, but that might help too I guess.

point & click adventures.

"look at item" --> "pick up item" --> "use item to seduce 1000 hot chicks"

similar to those flash "exit the room" kind of games that are so popular now

Ah, like Phantasmagoria?

Can't say I've played any game like that on the PC for a while... sorry I don't have any suggestions. 🙁

Still Life wasn't bad at all.

If you liked Grim Fandango, you may want to give Psychonauts at try. It's made by the same designer (Tim Schaefer). It's more of a platform type adventure, but it's quite fun.

I'd recommend the Gabriel Knight series but then they aren't exactly recent...

I found The Longest Journey slightly overrated. I liked the future world environment mostly, but didn't care much about the story.

Syberia 2 was a disappointment, at least compared to its prequel.

ahhh psychonauts was freakin AWESOME.

had the same charm as grim fandango, but in a platformer.

it was a little short, but awesome nonetheless
