any good 5.1 sound mp3 player programs?

Ditto, neither did I; I always thought mp3's were either mono/stereo/joint stereo. If you have a Creative Labs card, you could try changing the effect settings through the mixer applet (I'm partial to the Concert Hall effect), or you could try one of the many DSP plugins for Winamp like this one.

Also, might I suggest Winamp 2 in lieu of the gorilla-hippo monster known as Winamp 3? It's faster and more suited to the purpose of playing music than the new wanna-be kitchen sink incarnation. Anyway, if you really don't like Winamp, there are a few other options like Sonique, FreeAmp, etc.

Well, winamp plays over all my speakers 4.1 or 5.1 without me changing anything anywhere. I was just wondering if any other programs support that as well. Quite a few mp3s send certain signals to only one of the channels during songs, its tight as hell.

I never liked Winamp. I've been using Sonique for the past 4 years and I've never had ANY problems with it. It does what its supposed to: play music and nothing more. I suggest you check it out

roots you have 4.1 speaks? if so sound comes out all of em in sonique? i dont know how to configure it to 4 speakers.

I've got my mp3's running through my Audigy 2 card going into 5.1 speakers. I do only get 4.1 sound. The centre speaker is mute. But if I choose the CSS 2 setting I get amazing 4.1 positional sound. I can't quite figure how it works. But the way is separates and accurately channels instruments to the various speakers is awsome. Anyway I use the Creative Sound source program to play the music. I like it.
