I usually ask ndee but he's not online right now. :) I'll really appreciate it if you help me out on these.

BTW, I'm writing a short writing about Christmas.

1) "Mein Lieblingsfeiertag ist Weihnachten, weil meine Geschwister und meine Freunde in Vancouver zusammen sind."
-> Is zusammen the correct word there? I meant to say that "they are all in Vancouver."

2) "Jeden Dezember sind sie immer fröhlich, weil sie seinen Nahestehendern zu viele tollen Geschenke kaufen, und sie ihnen Weihnachtskarten schreiben."
-> The German for "happy" always confuses me. Is fröhlich correct in this context?
-> Nahestehendern = plural for "loved ones"?
-> "viele tollen Geschenke" or "viele tolle Geschenke"? (Well, this is grammar, but confusing since there are two adjectives. Or is "viel" an adverb here?)

3) Was ist "to open a present" auf Deutsch?

1. Yes.

2a. Yes, it is correct German.
2b. Close ones
2c. I think viele tolle Geschenke, not sure (too long ago)

3. Eine Geschenke öffnen? Not 100% sure.

Where you should know that oe is often used as replacement for ö in email so people who do not have that key on their keyboard don't have to resort to using Alt-148, but still can show the difference between o and ö.

The word is öffnen, but oeffnen can be used in emails.

Edit: And although it's been too long for me to remember all the words, I should have known Geschenk still :p

1. it' right, but it sounds not real good. better: Mein Lieblingsfeiertag ist Weihnachten, weil ich mit meinen Freunden und Geschwistern in Vancouver zusammen in bin.

2. the same: "Im Dezember sind sie immer fröhlich, weil sie ihren Verwandten viele schöne Geschenke kaufen und Weihnachtskarten schreiben."

3. viele tolle Geschenke. better:"viele schöne Geschenke"

Danke to all.
(= Danke zusammen?)

Danke an alle.
or : Vielen Dank an alle.
