It's only a matter of time...

I supose it would be pretty hard to hide a tanker though. could probably sell it in half an hour @ $2.

lol.. you'd have to either be a tard, or really smart to try and pull something like that off. How many gallons does a tanker hold? Like you say, it'd be pretty hard to hide.. You would have to have a friend with a gas station, or something....

Doesn't happen in countries with higher prices than the US, so why would the people of the US turn to anarchy? i.e., unlikely this will ever happen.

For several years now farmer's small trailer tanks, in Centeral Ca., have been taken or drained by truckers. There is a price break for over 250gal delivered, so most large farms use trailer tanks that can be upwards of 5,000gal. Agri.diesel is dyed red because it has no road tax and if truckers are cought using it, can be fined up to $10k.

Properly stored gasoline is good for 6 months, diesel for 1 year. Both can have stabilizers added that can easily extend that time by over double.

Both cars here will be getting locking gas caps as fuel theft is on the rise. The Lexus has a locking cover door but that is easily pryed open. A sticker will be put on the door indicating a locked cap is under it.

As far as hi-jacking a whole rig, most have a GPS onboard. So the hi-jacker would have
to hook up his own tractor. We will see it happen.

I told my GF that this will probably happen within the year. She doubts it so we made a bet.

Funny my brother and i were just talking about that. I said if you owned a gas station you could just go jack it and fill your tanks then sell the truck to the local chop shop.
~$21000 for a few hours work

there is a movement towards anarchy in the US, look at the May 1 demonstration supporting illegal entry to the US, that seems like anarchy to me

too many people are looking for a free ride, why not get some free gas? just start a nice little riot and fill up everyones car for free. after all, it is a crime with no victim, the big oil company can't be a victim, they are evil after all

That was probably a mistake. Think about it...a big 10,000 gallon tanker would be worth, what, $30k? The stuff's much cheaper than people realize; I mean, it's under 50 cents a pound.

Only a dumb thief would steal a tanker. There's probably more money to be made in breakfast cereal. Then again, not all thieves are bright...

Knowing how us "americans" like driving BIG, COMFORTABLE, SUVS, it might just happen. heheheh. (btw I think SUVs are ridiculous if you use it for daily city or highway driving, especially in Cali).

Slippery slope.

I agree that protesting your status as an illegal is wrongheaded, but slippery slope.

Gonna put a full surround skid plate on the tank?
