Swat 4, OpFlash, and the older R6 games (no vegas or Ghost Recon or any of that regenerating health bullshit)

I tried Arma awhile back and liked it but yikes! It takes some getting used to after playing CS:S & BF2.
Really easy to die if you don't take cover.

Stalker with some mods can be VERY realistic, even down to the physics. In most other games mentioned bullets always fly in a straight line. In Stalker it's at least a parabolic curve ...

Yeah the AI in stock ArmA is kinda bullshit. There are some mods that fix it a bit. But yeah, I'd say OpFlash and ArmA are the top PC realism FPS games. You actually have to compensate for bullet drop and drift, and the islands are truly wide open and have multiple towns and cities, each unique.

Insurgency is a HL2 mod thats decently realistic, although not ENTIRELY so. Very often its 1-2 shots kill.

Are one-shot kills all that realistic? If I shoot you in kidney, are you going to drop dead right then and there? I'm just saying.

I highly doubt you would continue fighting or firing your gun afterward, and I think that's the point.

Max Payne 2 on the hardest setting.

9mm in the head and you lose.

12 gauge in the chest and you lose.

Grenade anywhere near you?
LOSE!!

Of course, the John Woo shit kinda kills that "suspension of disbelief" feeling.

You'd reckon that those who are going to shoot many other armed opponents will at least wear a bulletproof vest. Bulletproof being relative of course. So no, a hit at a protected bodypart doesn't have to be fatal.

You'll still get knocked down at least. Can't defy the laws of physics.

No. Getting knocked down by the force of the bullet WOULD defy the laws of physics.

A bullet doesn't have the kinetic energy to knock down a human being

I would make an argument that several bullets could knock a person down... I would say .357 or larger can knock a person down, of course you have to take into consideration the placement of the shot, the size of the person and the distance from the person.

Check out the website Box of Truth, they do a test with a vest in front of ballistics clay. What that round does to the clay without penetrating the vest has convinced me that if you take one to the chest with a vest, you will not regain fighting capacity for a while at least.

I'd link it but weapons is Websense'd here at work.

I think CoD4 is pretty good. You can 1-shot kill with a pistol. Rainbow Six is also pretty good as already mentioned.
