I got an internship in Ft. Monmouth and I need to rent a room. anyone wknow where I can look? or want to offer me a room at a reasonable rate? I'll be living there 4 or 5 nights a week.

there should be motels in the general area. i used to be from around there, but moved like six years ago.

I don't want to stay in any welfare motel and I don't want to pay like $45 a night I'd like something in the middle of the road. maybe around $300 a month

Go apt hunting?
Actually, I thought there was optional housing for civillian employees on the base that isn't terribly expensive.

oh i thought u were just gonna stay 4-5 nights 😛 anyway... a place for $300/month? good luck. that was totally possible like 4 years ago... but these days... if u want a single, u're looking at around $450.

I want 4 or 5 nights a week but if I'm going to rent a room it might be cheaper just having it for the month. especially if someone is going to sublease me a room. hell, the room doesn't even have to be big. all I need room for is a bed, a desk, and a chair.

I doubt they offer housing for summer interns. but I'll ask on the 20th when I start there

Typically, a hotel/motel will reserve a room at a low cost if you book it for a month. Call the sales dept. at some local stays, you just might find a place for hella cheap!

( Trick is to tell them that you only need housekeeping once a week, so the cost should be lower. Truck drivers typically have a rate of ~$20/night )

Most hotels today are willing to make a deal - as it is, the travel industry kinda sux right now.

Good luck!
