I'm quickly outgrowing picasa but don't want to pay quite yet. Anything out there offer unlimited or nearly unlimited photo archiving?

While I honestly wouldn't like paying, I have to say Smugmug is worth every penny. Or Zenfolio. Most photog forums will recommend one or the other. It's amazing. It's like $20 a year with a discount for your first year at Smug? Totally worth it.

You will think Picasa and Flickr were a joke.

Cool- checked out smug mug and it's awesome. I'll whine about paying anything right now, but my bigger concern is that the company will be around. I backed up really important documents on a site years ago and, of course, they're no longer around. Think smugmug might be around in say 5 years? Stupid question, I know, but $20 a year isn't bad at all if the feature set's excellent.

How much storage do you get for $20 at Smug, blocked @ work so cant check... was able to reach Zenfolio, it 2GB for the 1st year then increases by 1GB/year. Is it the same?

I'll seriously consider smug mug but would love to hear more thoughts.

My dad constantly loses photos from memory cards that go bad (or, let's face it - user error) but he refuses to pay $$ for online backup, while here's already near his picasa limit.. So some free options would be nice too! Unless I just pay for his damn smugmug account.. Argh.

If you are going for free, I should think Picasa is more than good enough. Paid, they are all pretty great.
