Any free DV-AVI to MPEG encoders that are decent.

I have a camcorder and can get it to a DV-AVI file. I need it in MPEG format I've heard for a DVD player to read it. So are they any decent AND free programs to encode this and even better if they will compress for internet streaming use.

VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1and also handle sets of BMP images.

Try to use HT MPEG Encoder ProAuthor 7.0:

It is sharaware program.
