the level of technology is astounding, and the driving skills required in controlling such a vehicle are appreciable, but the "sport" is still BORING, LAME, and UNINTERESTING.

Oh no, that's even more boring. I am not really the big motorsports fan, but I do occasionally have F1 running in the background, and this is my opinion of it.

1. Not enough action. By action I mean: close encounters. What's so funny about seeing Michael Schumacher drive around 2 laps ahead of the rest for a few hours.

2. Bernie Ecclestone. I don't like that guy. I hope the car manufacturers break out and make their own race like they have said.

3. Too much difference in the cars and the drivers. You can actually buy your way into a F1 car, and thus some better talented drivers don't get a shot. As a dane I find it sad that 5 time LeMans winner Tom Kristensen has not gotten the chance yet.

The best racing I have ever seen was the german DTM series in the mid 90's. Very well balanced cars (Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, Opel, and some american cars in small private teams), a lot of great drivers, and close encounters all the time. Unfortunately the series died for a few years after it changed name and went international, but it should be on it's way up again.

But I want action, and I would have to watch many hours of F1 to find some action. Buy hey, if you like F1 then good for you. :)

A good/ great le man driver doesn't make a great F1 driver. Also the cars range quite a lot in performance. It would be cool to have them all race in the same spec cars though, but thats not part of F1 though.......

At least this season is more exciting and even than it has been for years. But it's still wrong that a guy like Barrichello is wasting his time being the 2nd driver in a team, when he's skilled enough to be the 1st in another team with a decent car.

I really like the disparity in F1. When all the cars are closely matched then the racing becomes artificial. Just look at NASCAR, the whole thing is set up to make the cars equal and it's just boring. I would much rather watch a team with spectacular technology win by three laps than see a bunch of teams who aren't allowed to innovate. That said, I'm not in favor of "diver aids" like ABS or traction control because it eliminates some of the variables from differing drivers. If a team finds 20-30 extra horsepower, great, but the driver should be the one modulating it, not some computer chip. Racing to me a Senna winning on the last lap because he slid two inches closer to the wall on the last lap than the other guy. Or it's Senna winning by 2-3 laps because he slid closer to the wall on every lap. Or because his team got him a couple more horsepower through amazing engineering and he was capable of controlling it.

All those people who are saying F1 isn't competitive and Shumacher always just drives away obviously haven't been watching this season.

Especially Silverstone, which had to be the best race in the last ten years.
