Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

yes since it happened to you it will happen to all.

there is a reason F150 has been the top rated truck (until recently). they are dependable and strong. I would not hesitate to buy another one. though the new ridgeline looks nice.

ridgeline??? Ugly unibody wannabe truck. Go buy a Pilot instead.

don't want a SUV. i do like how it looks. while i don't see it being a worktruck (wich then would make it uselss for me) it looks good for the avarage peson. anyway that flip up bedliner thing is cool.

also the Nissan Titen is petty good.

though i would still buy a F150 first heh

That flip up bedliner thing is worthless if you are actually trying to use it as a truck, IMHO.

Here's the scenario: You are headed to Colorado on the elk hunt of a lifetime. You have been looking forward to it ever since you got drawn for that choice permit, and you have been organizing and loading your gear for the past week or so. After about four hours of packing, you have all of your things sorted and stowed - guns and clothing in the back seat, ATV, tent and other camping gear in the back end. After 10 hours of driving, you get to your first overnight stop. You get up at 3am to hit the road, only to discover that you left the dome light on and your battery is dead. No problem you think, because you packed your jumper cables ...in that $#@%$^#% lockable compartment underneath all of your gear!!

I currently own a 2001 F150 with 128K miles on it.
Never had a tune up, never done any maintenance other than oil changes (not so regularly). Runs as good as the day I bought it.

I beat the hell out of it and the truck just keeps taking it!! Kudos to Ford for the F-150. It's one tough animal..

- I've also owned a '85 Bronco (full size) and put 160K on it with no problems.
- A'91 Ranger that I finally burnt the clutch out of at 90K miles when hauling about 2400lbs of ready-mix cement

- And a '93 F-150 with the 300 I-6 that I put 186K on before selling it to my cousin to use for a work truck who still drives it occasionally (truck now has around 230K and still going strong).

In short, not one Ford truck I've owned EVER gave me problems and I drove the wheels off of all of them:evil:

If you're wanting a P/U truck, you can NOT go wrong with a Ford... I'm convinced that they're damn near bullet-proof!

oh i agree. i just think its neat.

for people that use it as a work truck/hunting whatever it could cause problems. but for 80% of the people that will buy it it will be fine.

I dont particularly like Ford products unless it is a truck and man that 460 had some power and get up and go. Used to piss off my boss when we had to pull our trailer to a new site and I would smoke his ass passing him up on any hill or from a dead stop and he owned a new trailer and new Dodge Ram PU of that year with the turbo 6 Diesel. My sh!t kicking beater I paid 100x less then he did had much more power :D
Good time good times till it cought fire

Ford...Quality is job one.

Putting out the fire is job two.

All these posts about the truck being dependable must really be breaking your heart.

Luky for me being a ex truck driver that day it cought fire with a semi at the light in front of me and he gave me his extinguisher. I put it out and had one hell of a re-wiring job. It actually ran 10x better after the fire :p

It cought fire because the guy who had it before me used jb weld on a $15 fuel line part and it sprung the leak, causing of course, the fire when it broke :p

My first car about 10 years ago was an 1982 F250 2wd, extended cab, inline 6 and 4-spd trans with a granny 1st. Man that thing could pull. My dad bought it for me for $500, and I sold it for 700 when we moved from Alaska. Only problem it had was it needed a master cyl. rebuild, and it liked to eat batteries, but other then that, you couldn't kill it. Hell of a truck, and I still miss it to this day.

My dad owns an 01 F150 supercab (i think that's the right one, it has the 2 half-doors), 6ft bed, with 7700lb towing package, 4wd and a 4.6l V8. The only problem we had with it was the rear left parking brake cable broke and the mechanism fell apart inside the ebrake drum. Dealer covered it under warranty. Other then that, it's an extremely reliable and great truck. Since my dad's currently in Alaska on a boat, I've been driving his truck around, ssshhh, don't tell him. :p
