I have to write a short french essay tomorrow for my final (junior in HS, so don't expect much). Just read it over and see if I made any major grammatical errors. There will be a lack of accents, but I'll fill them in when I write for real.

also, i'm not sure if i'm translating "great-grandmother" correctly. check out this sentence in particular as well "La-bas est ou je l'ai vu le plus". Finally, the biography was based on truth but I made some stuff up, and also I had to use a subjunctive verb, so that is why that last sentence is there. =)

<< Quand elle avait 80 >>

You forgot the word "ans", also, you switch back and forth between writing out the number and using the actual number itself ("cent-trois ans" vs. "25 ans"). I would change the 80, 61, etc. to words, not numbers.

thanks for the effort anyway hanshurt =) and everyone else who replied
I used freetranslation.com for some words, but the direct english-french translation usually messes up sentences and phrases. I did most from my head and usually that doesn't work too well for me. Anyone know what greatgrandmother is in french?

<< Califronie >>

is mispelled, also there should be a dash in Etats-Unis, I believe. I would help more with the conjugations but I am rusty myself. :)

i'm not fluent but i took way too many years of french. i made a few corrections in bold. i assume you are going to go back and fix the accents. also, what tenses have you learned? there is another tense you can use but if you haven't learned it yet then that's fine.

I won't correct your mistakes because everyone needs to do their own work, but I WILL say that you need to review your verb tenses for past tense narratives. Admittedly, it's not the easiest thing to do, but you should be using more than just the passe compose and that other one (cannot even remember the names anymore! -- such as j'avais or j'etais). There are some stylistic errors in word choice, but that's expected at your level.

Bonne chance. :)

It would be arrière grand mère instead of great-grand mère or grand grand mère. Also it should be "Elle a resté". Make sure you conjugate your verbs when using the past participle. Same with immigre, should be immigré and same for habite, should be habité. Also goes for voyage, should be voyagé, same with tombé. I think you had a spelling error in the last line, should've been "je veux visiter". Good luck :D
