any Flashlight Hobbyists?

At least different knives can have different functions. There is only one function of a flashlight. I've gotta side with Gayner here. It is bizarre that there are flashlight enthusiasts.

I disagree.

The light on my gun is not your ordinary flashlight. The light on my belt is different than the light in my cruiser -- both of which are different from the light I personally own, and all of the above are also different from the LED keychain light I had, though all are technically flashlights, no?

Different lights can - and do - have different functions. Try using a high powered light when you're looking for something in a small enclosed area. Prepare to be blinded. Try using an ordinary flashlight when clearing a room with a firearm. Etc. Whether you have a need for them or not, different lights do serve different functions.

Just like you wouldn't go grocery shopping in a Ferrari Enzo, you wouldn't clear a room with a AAA Mini Maglite. 😉

Pros
Built to last
Many sizes to choose from

Cons
Batteries? WTF?
Light bulb, ummmk
Holy Hell it needs lots of Lube!

Not sure what the Batteries are for and can't quite figure out how to Light the Bulb,, but this thing is built to last and I'm sure I'll figure it all out eventually.

This is the first thread I've read through with embedded pictures since the update. WOW. I hate it so much.

Yes, there are many different types of flashlight, just like there are many different types of beans. It doesn't make it rational to get enthusiastic about them.

Yes Mike. 84,000 members (9,400 active) at CPF. Do you honestly think flashlights are just a metal stick with a light? Like jlee says, do you think knives are just metal sticks? Would you be surprised there are enthusiasts for amplifiers, headphones, speakers, televisions, cars, rockets, remote control planes/boats/cars/trucks?

We can continue blowing your mind tomorrow.

Yes, virgins mean serious business!

No it is not. Your inability to comprehend other peoples' interests is bizarre.

I got a Fenix flashlight on my keychain.. It is brighter than a 3 D-cell maglight. It is ridiculously useful in all sorts of situations.

Are you a cop? If so then I see why you would be into flashlights. Do you sit around with other pigs talking about which flashlight is best for beating people over the head with?

Flashlights as a hobby sounds like a joke to me.

I know someone who is obsessed with flashlights. Join efnet #windows and ask for z0g. Tell him I sent you.

surefire makes the best flashlights... period.

got a surefire a2 and absolutely love it....

My ex lost my A2 when she lost her purse. That's what I get for putting my stuff in there.

I want the A2 LED at some point. I have the E2DL and E1B, and love them both.

To all the "flashlights are not a hobby" people, while it might not be normal it definitely is a hobby. First off, the higher end flashlights have electronics controlling the output and regulating the light. Also, modding them with aftermarket LED's/bulbs can change the characteristics of it. Oh, and there definitely is a use for various lights. I carry one with me daily, and while I've never needed to use it in a critical situation they can save your life.

As with anything, there can be enjoyment from modding them.

This is the kind of blatant disrespectful shit that needs to get a temporary ban. I can see making fun of flashlights as a hobby.. but this post insults in every aspect.

Youngins. Ignore them. And if they're not young, be glad you didn't grow up to be such a clod. 😀

Wow. The ignorance is strong in this thread. Different lights(intensity, beam width, tint, battery type, etc) have different purposes.

And yes, Maglites suck compared to the better lights out there.

We all know that for cops flashlights serve more than one purpose. Ask Rodney King and countless others.

And we all know that for internet dorks like yourself, dirty socks and spent toilet paper tubes have more than one purpose.

Fenix flashlights are hard to beat for the money.

I have a small pocket-able one that is amazingly bright.

Seriously, there's knife enthusiasts too? Why? I can understand why a chef would be into knives, but not too sure about why anyone else would. It IS just a sharp piece of metal.

Why is anyone into anything?

People find that stuff interesting for whatever reason. Big whoop, no need to make disparaging remarks about hobbies that fall outside of what you consider standard.

Not a flashlight hobbyist but I did check out CPF and bought a few of the brightest budget sub $20 flashlights from dealxtreme and man are they bright. I plan on getting something sub $40 as well to compare but that's as far as I'll go. I was checking out some of the more expensive high end surefires and fenix lights and can't believe they go for upwards of $200, that's just insane.
