Screw firefighters in general. They get paid wayyyyyy too much when you compare their salaries to police.

And as the icing on the cake, they have enough free time to find a 2nd FULL TIME JOB. What a frickin joke.

I'd be all willing to pay police more if they actually took time to go after the violent crimes instead of just setting up DUI busts and speed traps. And god forbid those going after kids just hanging out somewhere.

OP what did the NYFD do to you, gangbang your chick or something? There isn't too much interaction they have other than putting out shit and getting people out of it.

Fuck that...no more "moon suits" for me. 😀

Well, the funny thing is that I don't remember taking the class, or ever doing anything hazmat related whatsoever. But I have the certificate sitting in my lock box with my name and SSN.

Photoshop?

I get so annoyed when I see 2 fire trucks at a fender bender. There are 2 police cars there doing the report, then you see 2 fire trucks with 10 firemen asking 2 people "Are you ok?" "Do you need help?"

YES I need help with your enormous waste of our tax money. All i see is firefighters hanging out at restaurants or running laps at the local high school. And when i dont see them there, I see a couple fire trucks hanging out for over an hour at a minor fender bender. They spend more time standing around then they do actually risking their life and, you know, fighting fires?

Police put their lives on the line on a weekly basis. Firefighters put their life on the line maybe a couple times a year, if that. And that is giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Not saying they aren't necessary, I am just saying they are vastly overpaid for the amount of work they do. Just like realtors.

I try not to make broad generalizations about people based on one statement, but in this case it's justified. You're a moron (or you're deliberately posting inflammatory nonsense just to get people spooled up, which is also moronic behavior).

I've heard similar stories about NYFD from NYPD cops. I have no idea about their veracity, but it's heard of.

This story involved large sums of money being found with crushed NYFD fire fighters.

of course, i ignored it the first time as some bad eggs, but then i heard it again from different nypd cops.

how during the crane accident, no cops or engineers or anyone was allowed in except NYFD... but once people were let back in, cash and jewelry and handbags were all missing from the top 3 evacuated floors

how dead firefighters were found in 9/11 with other people's wallets in their person... how laptops were hidden under their shirts were found embedded through their chest.... how at least 3 dead firefighters were found with rolex/cartier/etc watches from wrist to bicep on both arms which led to the massive sweep under the rug campaign....

and in general, how people constantly file police reports for missing items after NY FD arrives and leaves from the buildings

I'm sure that if you go out and pose that question to a bunch of NYFD, you'll get the response you deserve.

There are criminals in just about every line of work.

I'll be willing to bet that if you're ass is in a burning building, you won't be calling them a bunch of scum.

The response i deserve would be the truth unlike your geeky little ass

Do you mean the truth as in:
"I heard it from a friend who knows a guy whose girlfriend's hairdresser's sister overheard her brother's mechanic talking about something he heard from his cousin's sister's boyfriend's daddy who once knew someone who blew someone who actually knew a fireman?" sort of like your story.

Or, do you mean the truth...as in ACTUABLE VERIFIABLE FACTS?

BTW, thanks...my ass hasn't been called "little" in over 40 years...and I've never been referred to as "geeky." 😀

Oh, I fucking DESPISE realtors.

First thing you hear from a realtor walking into a house for sale, "Here is your new foyer."

HOW IS IT YOURS? BAH!!!!

Well, you're more than welcome to sell your own house just as you are more than welcome to extricate your broken body from a folded up vehicle, apply emergency care when needed at scenes of an accident, and enter your own raging inferno of a home to save its occupants and snuff out the fire. Don't forget to conduct a detailed inspection of the charred remains to determine the cause of the fire and whether or not any pesky arson was involved.

A pretty high majority of the jobs in America are overpaid for the amount of work that they do.

I mean, come on, Howard Stern makes, what, $100 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR?!?!?!

How many overpaid firefighters does THAT make up for?

what's wrong with taking the money in a burning building? isn't it also a federal offense to let money burn? they're just rescuing money, it's covered by insurance anyway. justifiable looting in the line of duty.

But they aren't as bad as mimes, 2/3 of all mimes are sex offenders while more than 75% of licensed clowns have admitted to drinking on the job. Personally I feel that these are far worse transgressions. People invite these so-called professionals into their homes willingly, often to entertain children.

How much revenue does howard stern bring in compared to others? That's the key you are missing.

that, and howard stern probably isn't paid for with tax dollars 😉

Ever heard of crooked cops? How about Doctors that abuse their power and write illegal drug prescriptions? Dentists that do bad things to people that are knocked out? You will find bad eggs in every single profession out there. Hell, there have been a few impeached Presidents.

There are firefighters out there that will break the law, but the majority of them are law biding citizens, that do the right thing. I don't know how many situations i've been in(and ive only been a professional firefighter for 2 years) that I could have taken advantage of the situation. When people dial 911 and ask for us, they are trusting us to come to their house, walk right through the door, and into their bedroom. Then, depending on the situation, they place either their lives, or their moms/dads/kids lives in our hands essentially. This is something most firefighters take pride in, and strive to do the best that we can. If you become a firefighter/police officer, and don't like helping people, then you are in the wrong profession. And you can always tell which of your fellow firefighters are there for the right reason, or there because they want a steady paycheck/decent retirement.

It sucks to say, but there are always bad eggs out there that will give a bad name to a department. You just have to realize, these people are all over the world, and not everyone you run into is like that. That's what this world has become. All you can do is try to screen those people out when you hire, but you are always going to miss some. I work at a relatively smaller department, only 100 or so firefighters. I've spent a significant amount of time with a majority of them. I'd like to say 98% of them are there for the right reason, and are going to do the right thing....then again, you never know with some people. Some serial killers started out as some of the most beloved and trusted people by their close friends....you just never know.
