Hi guys, a while back I posted that I was looking for a replacement TV. Since then, I've narrowed it down to these 3 possibilities, was wondering if anyone has any opinions on these:

#1: Samsung HL-S5086W - 50" DLP

#2: Westinghouse W4207 - 42" LCD

#3: Vizio 42" Plasma

I don't have the 720p Samsung, though I've read only good things about it. The HLS-5087 1080p version I have is great.

I would definitely upgrade to the 1080p but it's a few more $$$ though.

We've never used DLP TV though...

I came across that on amazon a few days ago.. I almost bought it but like you I've never had a DLP. Plasma, LCD, sure.. but I don't really know anyone with DLP.

I have a DLP projector and I love it. I had another DLP projector before that and have had nothing but good experiences with DLP.

My only concern is the bulb life, but so far (7 months) we've been lucky.

How are the black levels on DLP televisions compared to something like a Samsung or Panasonic plasma w/ 10,000:1 contrast? I know contrast ratios aren't necessarily comparable, but my parents 10,000:1 plasma absolutely destroys my friends 1000:1 LCD.

I'm not an expert but I'm satisfied with the black levels on my Toshiba DLP and it's supposedly better since it's the Cinema Series model.
