Any experience with online gun auctions?

I didn't know you could buy guns online, but their is a sight that is set up like ebay and you can bid on guns, and then have them sent to a licensed dealer near you where you can pick it up. Has anyone ever bought a gun this way? The prices dont seem to bad and you can buy almost anything. http://www.gunbroker.com

I bought my HK-91 off there earlier this year for a good price, but a lot of people sell stuff on there for way over priced. You may also want to try message boards for them like subguns.com ammo and accesories tend to get out of control on gunbroker so know what the stuff is worth. As for the xfer all you do is contact a local ffl holder and pay like 20 bucks, real easy.

That's the gist of things. Works pretty well. If you're worried about being taken, ask the gun dealer to whom you will have the gun shipped if he will accept the gun COD if you give him the cash, then give him $20 - $30 for his troubles (get a receipt, of course). He can do your NICS check in advance, too.

The guy running Gunbroker is involved in a lawsuit or 2, his saving grace is that all applicable laws are to be followed.

Agree that the prices are high, but I did use the site to leverage the price on a gun I just bought. The dealer had a "buy it now" price lower than their website price so I got him to drop the shipping charges & match their buy it now price.

I wish they'd allow you to look @ auctions that have ended like EBay does, there may be a way, but I can't find it.

Another interesting item is that my FFL Xfer dealer doesn't want to know the price of the weapon, so I can avoid state sales tax, on most guns that's a serious bit of change saved...
