I have a really crappy system right now (pos mb, k6233 cpu). Early next week I am going to upgrade my system. I am thinking about going w/ an Abit BE6-II and a celeron II 566. Please let me know your good and bad experiences w/ this MB. Thanks.

I used that board for about 7 months. Real nice board, easy to change settings. I went with the Asus board I am running now, as I didn't like the high 2/3 agp bus setting that you must run on a bx board( stresses the vid card). Apparently Abit has a very high RMA number on their boards also (another reason I switched to Asus).

I've had great success with my Abit BE6-II with an Abit Sloket!!! and the Celeron 566. Now running at 901 Mhz at vCore = 1.90 volts. Thermaltake Golden Ord for cooling. This my second mainboard for the CPU, the Asus CUBX just couldn't cut it and only managed 708 MHz. I haven't had any problems with the Abit so far (3 weeks).

I hope this helps.

I have an ABIT BE6-II running a 650E @ 839, using IWill Slotket II. It runs great... crashes once in a while, but that's b/c my HSF isn't the greatest (getting an alpha in 2 days). VERY VERY easy to change FSB, memory and other settings in the bios. Had to mess around with the IRQ's a little to get the SB Live going, but other than that, it's a great board!

I tried the ASUS P3V4X, and i hated that POS. It ran stable at default, but then when I tried OCing it, i got registry errors to no end. it was horrible... and it didn't want to take my sb live card either. i gave up on that and went with the ABIT. couldn't be happier...

happy OCing!!

I was running an ABit BE6-II for around 6 months with an IWill Slocket II and Celeron 400@600 with no problems. It is a great overclocking board but it lacks the 1/2 AGP divider that the Via chipset offers. If you have a video card that can handle a high AGP bus (GeForce, GTS), it is great. I only got rid of it because I purchased the an Athlon and Abit KA7.

Highly recommended.

I bought a BE6-II, Abit slotket III and celery 566 yesterday and it runs great at 853 with 1,75 volt. I'm a bit surprised since I only have pci 66 memory, 96 only because of globalwin fcp 32 stole one dimm slot. But still good, tomorrow I will put some more fans in and change the voltage on slotket so I can go higher.hehehehehhe

I'm pleased with my BE6-II and CeleryII 533a....purrs right along at 800....using IWill Slocket II, Golden Orb and extra case fan (blow hole).... The only problems that I have heard of with this board in the HPT Controller.. Seems that some people have good luck and get the ATA66 working and others give up and get a Promise Card...I have a lowly Fujitsu 4 gig ATA33 drive so I haven't tried the HPT yet.. maybe if I get a better drive.. The board was VERY easy to set up, I've never done any overclocking and this makes it quite easy...

Just returned my second BE6-2 today. First had controller problems and second would not detect the keyboard. Can't say if I happened to get a couple of lemons or if these boards are often defective, but didn't take any more chances and ordered a Soyo 6B+100 as replacement. Btw, Multiwave has been great about accepting the returns but it still costs $ for return shipping. And FYI, the BE6-2 I returned today had the new Highpoint 370 controller chip which supports Ultra ATA100.
Previously, I had been very happy with my Abit BH6, and in fact, I am running a 566 celeron @ 850 on it right now. Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide.

The board is great. Do not count on the ata 66 controller unless it is the newer revision. Mine is very stable, best board I have ever used up to this point. Fast, very fast.

Abit BE6-II
pc133 cas2 mushkin memory
pIII 600e slot 1 Cb0 stepping .18 micron coppermine
voodoo 3000 agp
run that FSB at 133, stable and sweet at 800mhz
bumped voltage to 1.7 for stability.
Using as golden orb slot 1 cooler and 1 case fan.
Runs pretty cool.
35c at 600mhz
36-38 at 800mhz after about 30 minutes of Unreal tournament.

This board is great and easy to use. Comes with software to monitor user defined temps for cpu monitoring and fan speeds, voltages etc..
Bios monitors it too.

I love the Highpoint 366 UDMA controller, it is only annoying to see an extra screen after the initial bios screen. It has it's own little mini-bios to detect drives on it. After that it screams. I get great drive performance.

Good luck and I highly recommend the BE6-II.

I have been running mine for about 2 months,it's the older one with HP366 controller. I have the HP366 disabled for now as I have no need for it. Many posts here and in other forums regarding problems with this board, mostly regarding the onboard controller, and some IRQ problems. I haven't been able to get mine to function properly when going on standy yet. Some love the controller and some can't get it to work, so if you plan to use ATA66 with the onboard controller read the manuel and seek advise from users who can tell you how to make it work. That being said, this is a very user fiendly board, easy to setup, you can adjust just about anything that can be adjusted in the BIOS. The manuel is very good, comes with all the cables etc: and yes it is very fast
The lack of 1/4 AGP divider is common to all BX board and can give you trouble if you don't have a vid card that can take 89-92 Mhz.
Overall I like the board, but if you don't like to tinker and try different things to get it just right it may not be the board for you.
Some don't recommend the Abit Slotket, but I do. Used to run a Celeron 366 @550 on this board before the 650.
Deals can be had right here on the for sale/trade forum.
Best of luck

MSI bx master has all of the same characteristics except for the incriments of 1 in fsb. MSI's promise controller is much better, I have had problems with lockups in my abit be6 r2 and all of the ones that i have set up for people, and occasionally irq conflicts [only when i have had too many peripherals] between the 2 i would pick msi bx master.
