Hey all,
So I have an unopened video game that I received, but do not have a receipt for it. I am pretty sure it was purchased at best buy.

Does anyone here have any experience returning something at best buy without a receipt? Its an unopened, unused video game that I just don't see myself playing.

Does it have any BB markings on it? If it does then I bet they will give you in store credit.

sell it on fs/ft like a good ATOT'er

If its something good, the answer is no. If its something terrible, then yes.

Best Buy, like most stores now, won't take returns without a receipt or the credit card used for purchase. It's annoying, but the way it is nowadays.

Despite what these people are saying, its quite easy for them to just look up your purchase in their system. You should be fine.

I returned a DVD I received for Christmas without a receipt. I was able to provide the customer service rep with the name of the buyer, his phone number and the store location where he purchased it, and she verified the purchase in her system and accepted the return. The guy before me tried to return a video game without a receipt, but did not have all the information and was unsuccessful.

Cliffs: YMMV

If you read the OP, you'd see that it wasn't his purchase, so how are they going to be able to determine anything with just a game and no receipt?

I recently attempted to return an unopened item (a PS3 controller) to a Best Buy without a receipt, and they refused to give me even store credit. The customer service worker said that she needed some sort of receipt in order to process any transaction. When I said that the item was a gift, she suggested I call the person who bought it and get the credit card # they used so that she could try to pull up the receipt on her computer.

Needless to say, I still have the controller.
