Any exp with Mazda Millenia?

My wife and I just agreed to buy a 95 Mazda Millenia with 60K miles on it for $8450.

It's a great deal according to all the car sites for that car (with all the extras) with that mileage.

Anyone own one of these? Any problems I should look for before the deal goes through?

have it checked out by a mechanic, and check for any damage with the vin # at carfax before buying it.

Why would someone sell a car at nearly half the tradein value? They could easily get more

Good question. Having my father-in-law check it out.

The guy is a police office, so I don't suspect him of trying to screw me over. (Also, from talking to him, it sounded like he wanted to get out of the payments--his wife is staying home with their child so that may have something to do with it.)

Half trade-in??? Where are you getting that--in edmunds.com, a private-party transaction has it
going for between $9-10,200.

I definitely think the car is worth more after driving it. Guess we'll see!

It it the Millenia or Millenia S? The supercharged Miller cycle engine might have higher maintainance costs.

Looked the car up in the Consumer Reports 2000 Buying Guide and this car is listed in their Reliable Used Cars section as one of the recommended cars.
