Any engineering majors in here?

I'm MechE and loving it, I like mechanical systems, and the fact I don't have to take an english or a language. By the end of my 4 years my communications skills will have fallen to pointing, grunting, and doing high level calc and physics problems.

Does CS fall under enginnering?

I know this is gonna piss quite a few people off, but I dont' consider it engineering because it's course difficulty doesn't come close to the other engineering majors. First year it's the same for CS and the other engineering majors, but afterwards, EE, CompE, etc take Calc IV, differential equations, and other goddamn difficult classes while CS don't (at least at my school). Quite a few colleges place CS under their Science college, which I think is where it belongs. Being an engineer means you have to go through a lot of crap in college; I don't think it's fair for CS to go through a lighter courseload and proclaim themselves as engineers. But that's my not-so-humble-opinion.

Do other schools offer engineering degrees as BS and not Bachelor of Engineering degrees? I'm a senior in EE and I'm getting a BE.

You can double major even when getting a BE if you knew what you were going to do from the very beginning or did something like join the BME/EE double major route.

But I am a practicing EE since 12 years. Great job. Both electronics and software and I don't have to deal with freaking fscked up computers.
Just let the comp guys sort it out.

At my university you can get a CS degree from the school of engineering, but it's a BS. You can also get an arts & science one.

I'm in CompEng at UofT (same program as Marty) and our CompEng/EE is pretty much similar. Its hard in the sense that we have a LOT of work to do. The material we learn is not too difficult (altho abstract stuff like vector spaces may haunt you for a while), its just that you always seem to be catching up in engineering. When you study for one quiz/test, you realize you are behind in everything else so you catch up on that, but then you get behind in something else. the cycle continues.

aynway i have toget some sleep now

i did 8 hours of caclulus today, finished my java proposal, and started my eng assingments hwihc is worth 25% of my mark and is due on thursday. i also have a clc quiz on wednesday worth 10% of my mark.

that's how you know your an engineer! hell at UofT the engineer's spell school as skule.!

Im going into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo next fall as an EE. I really hope I dont regret it because while I definitely like the whole engineering aspect of things (as far as I know, which isnt much), I dont know if i like the idea of never having girls in my classes or being able to party. So far Ive taken AP Phys B and AP Phys C Calc-Based without any trouble as well as AP Calc BC, so Im hoping i wont be too far in over my head. Anyone have experience with this schools program?

no but my friend went to SLO and hes doing his masters at ucsd now. smart guy.

Don't get confused ... you can still party and you can still meet girls, but it's what you decide to make of it. Most of my engineering friends are actually in fraternities and make it a point to party at least once a week. If you want to meet girls ... then go out there and meet them ... just don't expect them to come to you in any in your classes. It's all about how outgoing you want to be.
