any electronics experts in here?

Hey I got a cheap MTX VCR that was given to me from a friend because it didnt work. Well the problem is when you put a tape in it plays for about 20 seconds and spits the tape out. What could be the problem you think?

Does the same thing when REW or F.FWD it.

anyone?

It could be several things causing your problem. First open the cover and make sure the take-up reel is turning, if it is then it could be the take-up reel sensor not sending pulse's to the micro. If the take-up reel is not turning.. then you will need an Idler assy. Also the 'end tape' sensors could be bad.

My suggestion, only because I used to repair vcr's, is to convert the vcr into a boat anchor, and go out and buy you a HI-FI vcr for $70. <g>
