Any easy mods for ps2 to play import games? I really wanna try beatmania :P

Its an old psx game, which i played the crap out of in the arcades, but no arcades have it anymore and you can usually pick it up on ebay or a few import places for cheap. Dont really feel like soldering though. already did that on the xbox for imports.

Then get a flip-top with the boot disk. Take off a few screws, replace current cover with the new one, replace screws.

Done.

Total time is under 10 minutes

Here is the best way to play other games on PS2..

1. Go buy a Xbox
2. Go buy a gamecube

superglue xbox and gamecube on top of PS2 (you can use solder if you want).

Now you can play all the games on the PS2..

Cool.. ehhhh?

already got an xbox and gamecube 😛 wont be gluing any together. Where might i find a flip top with boot disk?

I ended up buying a Japanese ps2 to play Beatmania IIDX, GuitarFreaks/DrumMania etc. Even bought the limited run Arcade Style beatmania controller from Konami last year 😀.

Anyway, If you are talking about the old PSX games (Beatmania, and not IIDX) and you have a PSX (with the parallel port on the back) you can just plug in an action replay for 15$ or so and use that to boot the imports. If you're talking about PS2 playing the imports, I guess you'll have to do that flip top lid replacement if you don't want to solder anything? Unless the USB key solutions are working for psx imports/copies of imports.

Perhaps i'll just pick up a cheap psx and action replay.. would cost about the same as modding the ps2.

The USBMOD is a simple instal. There is 1 wire which you have to solder to two different points. Took me about 10 minutes total to instal one the first time. Then, you use a gameshark and swap games like the old days.
