Any DVD players that can play MP3's burned on DVD ?

Just wondering if any players can handle MP3s on DVD - seems like a great way to set up a home MP3 player... Do any exist ? Alternatively, are there any good HD based home MP3 players on the market yet ? Thanks !

I wish they made one for the car that could do that! 10 Hours of music isn't enough for me! I need 80 hours! 🙂

Sorry I couldn't help, but it is a good idea and I'm sure as DVD burners become cheaper and more common you'll definitely see an MP3 player or something similar that will support DVD recordables (can't say DVD-R cuz now that specifically means a certain format) heh

There are many MP3 DVD players out there. I believe there are even DIVX DVD players.

those read MP3s burned onto CDRs... I believe he wants to know if they can read MP3s burned onto a DVD, which can hold a lot more data. I'm not sure if they do or not.

Here's something that might interest you, its called the Simple Fi by Motorola, and it streams MP3s from your computer wirelessly to the Simple Fi box (which plugs into your receiver via RCA Jacks). Its kindof pricey right now, but it would do what you want and allow you access to a ton of MP3s (already on your computer)...

Alternatively, you could buy a $199.00 Xbox, mod it ($59) and put a 120gig HD ($120) or however big you want ... Dump a bunch of MP3s onto the HD and play them. You'd need a TV in the same room that you wanted to play your music, but it would work! Plus you could do optical out as well as RCA. Additionally you could play Divx movies and the like, not to mention you could also stream your MP3s through the network similar to Simple Fi *and* read burned DVD discs with MP3s on them (Personally, my xbox can read DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW)

If you just use the DVD route, its a $269 purchase (I'm assuming you'd also buy the DVD remote to control the Xbox remotely).

Not the cleanest method to do what you want, but it would work. Simple Fi might be a better option for you if you don't like messing with things to get it to work.

Thanks for the info - I wasn't aware that you could do so much with a mod'ed Xbox. I'll check out the simpleFi too - just wish it was 802.11b so it would work with my existing wireless network. Thanks again for the advice everyone !

You just have to find one that supports DVD-R or DVD+R (the format you want) and it should be able to read MP3s on DVD

Unfortunately, current DVD players still only support the 200 - 250 track limit that was needed for CD-Rs, they haven't put in more memory and upgraded code to support the 600+ tracks that can fit on a DVD.

Another choice besides XBox is any cheap older PC, just put in a wifi card or wifi USB and a video card with TV-out. Even a p2-233 with Win98 will play MP3's just fine.

I recently read a page on this issue, sorry if I can't find the link, but Apex was one that had some models that do this. The page stated that some media were unsuccessful, some users reported that the Verbatim azo (dark blue dye?) disks worked on those. They also said that the models in question had a cap to the amount of files it would display as recognized, but that all files would indeed play, particularly in shuffle mode.

Sorry I'm falling way short of what was posted, maybe cdfreaks.com or burning issues forums would help...
