Any Duron Benchmarks for SETI??

Is anyone running SETI on a duron? It would be interesting to see some benchmarks. The reason im asking because if the performance is stellar, it seems a Very Easy upgrade path.
thanks

I can't remember for sure, but I believe firingsquad had a review up with S@H benchmarks. The duron is faster than an equivalently clocked athlon classic (I do remember that part!), so it does seem like a pretty decent way to add computing power. Especially if you have a mobo with the ability to change the mult. and an unlocked duron. You should easily get 900MHz out of a duron, and possibly 950.

I supposedly do have a Duron 600 @ 660 crunching for me but I have no means of getting the WU times ,I haven't spoken to the bloke lately either 🙁.
I'll see if I can findout somehow

That's a pretty bad WU time they are getting for the Athlon 700 ,is it on a AMD 100MHz board?
My fathers Athlon 700 classic with 133MHz CAS2 memory is currently doing WU's in just under 7hrs ,it was doing them in about 6.7hrs but I altered some bios settings which increased the WU time 🙁 ,I'm currently investigating which 1 it is by turn 1 after the off (or on),when I find out which one caused it I will post a thread about it along with the WU times

Don't believe the hype. The Duron and the Thunderbird are faster than every of their x86 equalitys on the world, but the are slow in Seti.

I think some of you may saw that an equaly clocked Katmai outperforms a Coppermine in Seti. The same here with the Thunderbird. My old Athlon classic 650@800 crunched WU's in 6hrs and the Thunderbird needs nearly 7hrs 30min on 9x100(700Mhz core). Only if I crank up the FSB to 119Mhz (setting is 119x8)on my AMD Chipset board I'm able to reach 6hrs 30min.

Hi 🙂 ,haven't seen you here for a while 🙁

Thanks for the info 🙂 ,BTW what is your memory bus set to for those 6hrs 30 mins WU's ?

Hi Assim, yes it needs some training to go back to the enemies camp 😉.

My memory bus is set to 119. As you probably know the AMD 750 Chipset can't be set to +33FSB -33FSB. In the Bios everything is set to the lowest settings (every setting with "RAS" or "CAS" in it is brutaly forced to "2"🙂).
My numbers are actually very high, here are some Sandra scores(in letters because I don't have webspace for the pictures, you know you can trust these numbers).

ALU/Memory Bandwidth=449 MB/s
FPU/Memory Bandwidth=551 MB/s

Pretty good, or not?

This is running at 119x8=892Mhz, I would go higher but the Chipset is really at it's end at that settings. It's a real wonder that i could achieve this high.

PS: I should mention that the AMD Chipset has a better memory throughput than an KX133 when overclocked.

Thats damned high memory results ! :Q ,probably down to your damn high 119Mhz FSB!
My fathers Athlon 700 manages this
Sisoft Sandra Mill
ALU 398 MB/s
FPU 433 MB/s

128Mb PC133 RAM,CAS2,bios on fast ,133 MHz mem bus

I doubt though that an overclocked KX133 would be out performed by an overclocked AMD 750 board

Hehe🙂 you got me wrong. I mean that a normally clocked KX133 can't keep up with an AMD Chipset that is overclocked.
But I also see some interesting results with an overclocked KX133. My brother uses an Abit KA7. When its overclocked to 110Mhz+33 the memory runs at 143Mhz CAS2. He is not able to reach my memory results! Even Anand mentioned the crappy memory performance of the VIA Chip.

He did? throw me a link can you? 🙂

BTW how come a KX133 board will usually have faster SETI times than a AMD board if the memory performance is worse?

Bah! I think you don't WANT to understand me🙂.
An Irongate is always faster at my settings than a normally clocked KX133. Even @110Mhz it reaches or surpasses the numbers of an KX133.

Just got my Ahtlon 750
According to setispy, its going to complete it in 6:41:55
havent completed a full WU to see if these results are accurate. Not bad eh. FSB is at 101mhz with all timings set to 2 and precharge enabled.
I wanted to use setiq and i just wanted to make sure that you have to set up a proxy server on the comp that has conn right?? if so, any recommendations, for some good FREE one. 🙂
thanks
