Any doubts about Murtha?

John Murtha, the liberal anti-war poster child, has finally shown his true colors. His strongest supporter took a beating from him as he called an ethics and lobbying reform bill supported by Nancy Pelosi is "total crap", but then added that he would support it anyways. One should NEVER attack ones strongest supporter unless you hope to gain something greater for h effort. I can't see what he has to gain other than making his opponent, Hoyer look better. I agree with Murtha that the bill is crap, and that Pelosi is out of touch (maybe because she's new to he job), but he could just find a constructive way to criticize the bill, and then not support it.

If Murtha won't follow his own conscience on this, then what else do we have to look forward to?

How about some kind of link, Maluckey, so we can put it in a context greater than disconnected and disjointed freeper ravings?

Heh he calls the legilsation a bunch of crap and not worth the time when a war is on, but the democrats campaigned on the idea of cleaning up Washington.

Just classic.

Aren't most of them supporting this kind of effort? Murtha seems to be an outlier here.

I dont know how the rest of the party is doing. This guy was up for majority leader and is a leader in the democratic party. If a leader is this far out of touch with his own parties campaign platform. The fun is just beginning!

Murtha wasn't voted in as Majority Leader. I guess the Dems aren't as corrupt as you alleged.

Not really, as Pelosi backed him over another of her own party.

I haven't liked Murtha since he came into office. He's no better than a two-bit union thug as far as his way of doing business is concerned. He has no business being in ofice, but at least his true personality has shown to those wearing blinders.

As I noted to the other wild eyed loser, he's out, so your little sniping is for naught. haha! <B

The idea that you feel you can even think about criticizing people on ethics issues is a real laugh too, since we've witnessed 12 years of unbridled corruption from the Repuglicans. Tom DeLay was a real straight shooter, yeahhhh.
Speaking of straight shooters, Dick ain't so bad either, long as you're hunting humans...

What does him being out as house majority leader have to do with him being out of touch with his own parties platform?????

I can criticize whoever I want. What makes you think you have any right or say in the matter? If you bothered to take the red tinted glasses off. I said from the beginning if Delay is guilty toss him in jail. I never defended the guy, I sat on the sidelines and let people like you make aholes of themselves. Unsurprising you are doing it again in this thead.

That's rich!!!

The point to all this is to expose hypocracy on BOTH sides o the fence. The Republicans can't fart without someone commenting on the smell, but now you suggest that registered voters can't criticize? Dream on

Remember this is only the first week of fun for people on the right. Things will only become more hilarious as the democrats break promises over the next 2 years.

I cant wait to see how the left on this board takes the heat of constant questioning over democratic legislative decisions. If this first week is any indication, they dont have the will and will cut and run :D

Remember that this is overwhelmingly a Liberal Forum. the members here represent a small portion of the very left, and do not accurately represent the moderates that make up most of the United States.

Democrats or republicans, it doesn't matter. They are inherently broken and need a third or even fourth party to fix them. We can't expect much from either party nowadays. Bush and Co. can't manage to talk about the Border with any intelligence, and the Democrats have no plan at all for Iraq that thay have shown.

I figure that it doesn't matter which party that they are in, just that they are willing to do ANYTHING at all other than line thier pockets with my money.

When did John Murtha become a liberal?

The moment he stood again the Iraq War of course. That he is Pro LIfe and Pro Gun wouldn't change that.

why is anybody surprised at things like this?

Honestly, if anybody was actually expecting integrity and honesty and consistency from EITHER party, you are lying to yourself. Both parties will stomp on the American people for as much as they can get out of them.

Nobody called Murtha a Liberal, I was pointing out that the Forum is Pro-Liberal, and that Democrats have far more liberals than any party. Murtha being a Democrat falls somewhere in there, escpecially when his anti-war rhetoric made him the poster child for this forum a while back. Nobody could touch him or say anything bad about him then.

Now that is a perfect example of what is wrong with our political system. You have people sitting by ready to cheer and celebrate when someone on the other team screws up. Nevermind what is actually good for our country. You'd rather watch our country fall into ruin, just so you can say your team sucks, mine is better. Why don't you start thinking about what is good for America and stop sitting on the sideline wishing for the other team to screw up.

As for broken promises, the democrats could break damn near every promise in the next two years and still not come close to touching the lies, broken promises and corrruption we saw from the Republicans.

You started out great, I was thinking that a realist had entered the fray......and then you ended your post doing the exact same thing as another member whom you were berating!! Wow! That's impressive

When you become a slave to a party or an idea you become dense and boring. This doubly applies for politicians.

Actually if you knew anything about me you would know that I am not affiliated with either party. In fact I spent the majority of my life with siding with the republicans. However the last 4-5 years have pushed me away from that. My ending statement was not meant to bash anyone, I was simply pointing out that there were rampant lies and corruption while the republicans were in power. I am not suggesting that the democrats are innocent, neither party is. However for Genx87 to start speculating about how badly the democrats will screw things up, when they haven't even come into power yet, is silly. Unless he has a crystal ball and can see the future he doesn't know that. However we all know what happened while the republicans were in power.
