Haha, no kidding. Like the sound of my upstairs neighbors bowling...

Um....sorry bro, didn't know I was keeping you awake, but bowling? We ain't bowlin ;)

they are energetic dogs and love people, they just plain want attention. not sure how to quiet it down unless you let it expend alot of energy (tire it out) or get it a friend

Bark collar.

Each time he barks...bzzt! He'll get the message real quick.

Haha, we used one of those to train one of our dogs and my dad dared me to try it. So I pressed it up against my neck and barked. It hurt like a SON OF A B!TCH!! My dad laughed so hard he cried. :|

Make one for humans and we wouldn't have so many criminals.

Mmm yeah, right.

Dogs big brother = wolf?

Kittys big brother = Lion / Tiger / Puma / Cheetah?

Let's see which wins :)

My cat has attacked dogs 3 times his size before and they've run away, cats are nuts, dogs are dependant cowards.

we just got a golden as well, however she whimpers and yelp when we're not around. which probably lasts for 10 minutes or so and she'll stop. It isn't that bad since we keep her inside.

LOL. Too troo. Cats will do crazy sh!t. I had to give away my only pet cat when we moved across country (to family friends, good home) -- but I hear that during his time there (died of old age in late '03) he more or less ruled the place. The two dogs (no clue what breeds but both ~golden size) were whipped. The cat ate their food from their bowls (fat cat), and this was a crippled cat with three functional legs (and the bad one was up front, so no real attack actions).

I agree. Are you saying that this is happening during the day when you and your girlfriend are both gone to work or school? If so, is there someone that you could get to walk the dog or exercise it during the day? Once they get tired out they pretty much just want to sleep. Don't do it too late in the day though or the dog will sleep all evening and be up all night. Good luck.

I have a 1.5 year old female golden retriever and a 6 month lab/pit mix

Neither of my dogs bark/whimper when left alone anymore.

First rule of dogs, especially puppies, is that they'll get bored when left alone and get into trouble.

She's probably barking out of frustration from being stranded.

A shock collar is probably the best solution since you aren't there.

Yeah, that analogy is realy fvcking brilliant.

Oh, and besides the Lion, felines are independent.

Wolves are..TMK, almost always in a pack.

Wolfpack > Tiger, Puma, Cheetah (Cheetahs suck anyway).

The dogs were being nice. You think they were actually afraid?

Bitter apple in the mouth every time she barks. THen hold the mouth closed and sternly say "No Barking"

Works great for my Golden. But takes a bit for them to figure it out and stop. And you have to do it immediately when they bark, Can't let them back and then saunter over there a few minutes later or the dog has no idea wtf you are talking about...

Also if you don't know the poper way to train a dog, sign up for an obedience class ASAP. I have golden and she rarely barks anymore.
