So I was playing basketball today, at church of all places, and my friend throws a chest pass. I try to block it but it hits my left thumb nail straight on, and everyone can hear this huge pop. Thankfully, my thumb wasnt broken

BUT, half of my left thumbnail was popped up, still attached to the other half. I slowly pushed it down, painfully, and now its purple. I washed it with alcohol, and wrapped it in gauze.

Any suggestions on what I should do next? I mean I know, try to leave thef ingernail intact, if it grows out, trim as necessary, but try not to take off part of the fingernail to prevent an ingrown nail.

ANything i should do next?

Thanks guys

Usually part of the nail will either fall off or if it doesn't, it will eventually grow out. Just be careful with your nail for a while.
