Any dish network customers here?

I'm thinking about switching from DirectTV to Dish for the extra HD channels and cheaper HD-DVR.

Any opinions or suggestions are also welcome. Based on my research DirecTV and Comcast can't compete on price or with the amount of channels offered.

I've got two of them sitting right in front of me. PM me for the #.

As far as the service goes, it's been excellent. Tons of HD channels and the picture quality is great.

Only complaint is that I can't get HD local channel broadcasts like I could with Cox cable.

I probably would've switched if they didn't make you pay up front for the HD-DVR. Plus, I'm pretty sure they use HD-Lite feeds.

dish is pretty good. I have been happy with the service. though i do not have HD (grr yet!).

One thing to keep in mind is that there is an 18 month commitment FWIW.

i agree.

but since i have a 36inch tube tv my wife does not think we need a new TV heh. trying to talk her into it is a pain.

You can opt out of that if you want. I did.

Edit: well, if you sign up the normal way at least.

According to that the only reason for an 18-month contract is if I want a $49 credit on the first bill. I can easily live without that if that means I won't have a contract.
