Any disc golfers on AT?

Its a shot in the dark, but I thought I'd ask. To disc golf, one must venture into the outside world. Anyway, I'll be traveling from Wisconsin to West Virginia, then West Virginia to Dallas, TX, and then back to Wisconsin. If anyone knows of some nice courses to stop at along my trip, I would be greatful for the info. Thanks!

BTW...If you are ever near Milwaukee, WI, UW-Parkside in Kenosha has a nice 18 hole course.

Didn't Costanza (on Seinfeld) call it "Frolf", short for Frisbee Golf?

I didn't know there was a whole association for it!

Oh hell yeah. I play 2-3 rounds a week. There's some great courses here in the Detroit area. You should check out the online course directory at pdga.com for courses along your trip. Just look at how long the courses are and whether they have cement tees and mach III or chainstar baskets to know if they're nice.

I LOVE IT

I have 4 courses near me in Cincinnati. One of them is about 5 minutes away and I love to go there and play 18 or 36 holes. The one nearest me is a pretty small course with a lot of par 3s. There are 2 par 5s and I am able to get to the hole in one throw. 😀

I had a guy who was in tournaments give me some tips on how to flick my wrist and how to rotate my hips better for longer distances. My favorite disc for distance is the Cyclone and my favorite disc for average tosses is my Hammerhead.

There is another course by me that has some really long holes. One of them goes uphill and another that is impossible to do in one throw.

I tried a disc called the X-Clone and it is a little bit stiff for me. I really have to work at it to keep it in a straight line. Actually, I have to make it kind of zig-zag in the air to make it go straight in a long straightaway. That disc loves to fall sharply to the left when it looses it's rotation and power.

Have a good time. 🙂

I play every now and then. Not so much as I used to, as I've replaced it with real golf. I could usually shoot below par on most courses I've played around here(Iowa). If you pass though Iowa City/Coralville let me know, and I can give you directions on how to get to some of the ones around here.

stoner golf rocks. you know its a good game when the disk bag doubles as a beer cooler.

I've always wanted to try Frolf........... there is one course by the local pitch and putt but it does not look too good.

Cheers,
Aquaman

I haven't played for years, but I used to go every weekend, cuz we lived across the street from a great DG course.

Seriously. We play Ultimate every week and go to the bar afterwards, and one week we decided to switch up and visit our local golf course (Philadelphia PA) and wandered the course with a case of beer and a sack of discs.
I knew I was a terribly inaccurate throw, but you don't realize just how bad you are until you are trying to thread the eye of a needle and that needle doesn't have the capability to run, jump, reach and dive to catch your bad throws!
