I've been using my trusty Sony CPD-G500 21" CRT for the last five years and absolutely love it. I was thinking of getting a new monitor with a larger viewing area and I keep coming back to the 3007WFP. I was wondering if anyone out there actually owns one and how do you like it? The one thing I'm worried about is playing games in its native resolution, which is a whopping 2560x1600. I was able to play Oblivion at 2048x1536 without AA at 20-25fps outside on my X1900XT, but at 2560x1600 I'm sure it would destroy it. The other thing I'm worried about is when next-gen games come out I'll need to have the fastest video card I can get my hands on to play them looking decent. Or I could wait 9-12 months until the video cards drop in price to play the newer games :)

Well what did you expect? :p It's not that common to have such an expensive 30'' monitor.. :)

I am seriously thinking the purchase of either this monitor or a 40'' LCD HDTV for my house... Dunno I'll see :p

As far as concers the gpu upgrade well... You are answering to yourself.. If you are to sustain decent resolutions to such a monitor and play newer games then by all means you'd need at least a new high end card in every new generation to play newer games.. Sure you can wait but if someone was to tell me to wait 3-4 months to play an interesting game I'd tell him.. WTF ru talkin about? :D

I myself get a new high end card in each new generation.. So I'll probably could handle 1920x1200 even in new games.. For higher resolutions? :p
CF or SLI will be teh only way for demanding games.. :D
That's why I'm reluctant to buy it.. Because I'll be pissed off that I won't be able to run everything at native resolution :p lol (I might be buying a new gpu every gen but I consider SLI or Xfire way too much money even for my favorite hobby My SLI days have finished with Voodoo :D)

Seriously you understand the goods and the bads of such a purchase.. So.. get your facts straight and decide if you really need it and most importantly if you can "feed it" :p

i don't have a 30in screen but my friends dad has the apple 30 in cinema display for his powermac. it's so freaking huge! i do suppose that you'll have to get Crossfire/SLi to run games at that rez. but if you have the money for the monitor, you might as well buy another x1900xt.
